Meeting for the second time in 24 hours, this time in Greenville, the Wilson Green Hornets prevailed again but this time by a much closer 2-1 score. Finn Irving went the distance for the visitors, but the Gladiator duo of Aidan Miller and Ryan Farris held their own as the hits and therefore the runs were hard to come by.

The Hornets scored their first run right out of the gate as RHS booted a couple of ground balls. Initially it looked like Wilson might be headed for a big inning, but the Gladiators settled down and held them to just the single tally.

Riverheads then tried to small ball their way back into the game and managed to get men in scoring position more often than not. If my memory is correct, they left a runner stranded at third in three different innings. They did manage to tie the score in the third but Wilson pushed across the game winner in either the fifth or the sixth with the most solid hit of the night.

With runners on first and second, the batter smacked one to straightaway center and it momentarily appeared as if two runs had scored. But the batter tried to stretch his hit into a double and the Gladiators nailed him before the second run crossed the plate. Of course that could have been crucial if the Big Red had managed a tying or winning rally.

The loss drops RHS to a disappointing 1-5 in Shenandoah District play, but on the positive side, they have been competitive just about every night out. Aside from yesterday's shut-out in Fishersville, the other four losses have been by a combined total of six runs. Considering that they have not played Waynesboro at all and also have second shots at BG, FD, SD, and Staunton. there is still time for them to build some momentum for a post-season run. Overall they still have a winning record at 8-5.

Wilson on the other hand has a solid shot at capturing the Shenandoah regular season crown.
