Isle of Wight reached the D4 State championship game with a 47-18 win over Broadwater Academy. The Chargers will face defending State champion Roanoke Catholic in the title game. Alec Edwards had 190 yards rushing for Isle of Wight who turned a close game in the 1st half into a 2nd half blowout.
The Chargers led 21-12 at halftime and extended the lead to 28-12 with a 5-yard touchdown run by Donald King with 6:50 left in the 3rd quarter. Broadwater Academy answered quickly with a 68-yard touchdown strike from quarterback Tyler Major to Major Morgan to make the score 28-18.
However, it was all Isle of Wight the rest of the way with Bryce Casey scoring three touchdowns to put the game away. Casey scored on a 9-yard touchdown run on what appeared to be a busted play, then he completed a 28-yard pass to Jordon Baines for a touchdown.
