Langley Wins 2nd NVSHL Crown

LANGLEY WINS 2ND NVSHL CROWN

In front of a full house at the Ashburn Ice House Friday night, Coach Patrick Keough’s Langley Saxons won their second NVSHL championship with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Briar Woods. The game was a tight checking, back and forth game which could have gone either way. Briar Woods took a 1-0 lead when All State Forward Derek Zhou scored on Langley Freshmen Goalie Harrison Smith. In the second, Langley tied it on the Power Play when Kam Khazai made a great individual rush and slid it by Briar Woods freshmen goalie Brady Knode who was excellent all game. The game stay tied throughout the 3rd period when Langley again on the Power Play, lit the lamp as Khazai hit Noah Scheinerman with the game winner with about six minutes left. Langley displayed a tremendous team effort throughout the game, but leading the way was Langley’s Captain and All State Forward Mike Kuligowski who was a force all game. Freshmen Goalie Harrison Smith stopped 26 of 27 shots and was the backbone of Langley’s team defense.

This gives Langley it’s second NVSHL crown in the past four years. Congratulations to Coach Keough and the Langley Saxons.
