Menchville 2021 point guard Allen Strothers made his college commitment on Wednesday afternoon, selecting East Tennessee State University out of the Southern Conference.
Strothers, who earned 1st Team All-Region and All-Peninsula District honors last winter for a Monarchs team that finished 20-4 overall, picked ETSU over finalists Hampton, Longwood, Mount St. Mary's and Troy. He is the son of Menchville Head Basketball Coach and former NBA player Lamont Strothers, who starred in college at Division III Christopher Newport University.
Jason Shay, who has been at ETSU since 2015, became the new Head Basketball Coach of the Buccaneers this past May when Steve Forbes left to take the job as Head Coach at Wake Forest in the ACC.
