Oscar Smith 57, West Potomac 56; FINAL

END 1Q - Smith playing a very strong zone, but west po's ball movement has been consistently beating it. Some turnovers late in 1Q for the wolverines. Wolverines have the size advantage at every position, and have been getting rebounds roughly 70%

Tigers - 12
Wolverines - 7

2Q 3:30 - Poor ball handling and turnovers by the wolverines have been matched by even poorer offensive fouls committed by the tigers. Offensive rebounds have been killing the tigers through this game

HALF - large outburst of soring from both teams. Tigers able to close the gap due to the continued poor offensive turnovers by the wolverines, but they are still having to fight for every bucket. Tigers are playing more scrappy and aggressive. Wolverines still have a strong advantage on the glass, so it'll be interesting to see what Oscar Smith can do to either fix that or work around it in the second half. Also on the halftime docket for the Tigers: their zone defense has been pretty much useless when the Wolverines spend more than 10 seconds on a drive and use ball movement around the perimeter. As for West Po, they need to hammer down on those turnovers; I counted 7 in the 2nd quarter. All in all, this one's gonna be exciting up to the finish

2:42 3Q - Tigers able to close the lead but Wolverines perfect the art of drawing a charge; back to back offensive fouls lead to the Tigers getting into the bonus early in the 3rd. Two players in foul trouble for the Tigers, and the rebounding-pox is back for them

Wolverines 40

End 3Q - Wolverines man defense is giving the Tigers fits; every possession seems like a fight for them. Couple of players in foul trouble for the Tigers, including #23 at 4 fouls, so we'll see how much impact that has

Wolverines 43

Classic Bill Simmons "stomach punch loss" for West Potomac. Up 56-55 late, they break the press, their star player Edwards (who had a phenomenal game and postseason) going to the basket with no defenders in front of him...and he loses his footing as he goes up for the shot. Travelling. Oscar Smith gets the ball back with 15 seconds left, they don't have much going on but eventually #5 is able to penetrate and toss in a floater with 0.7 seconds left. WP had a foul to give and they needed to give it.

Even though WP opened up a lead on a couple occasions it was a tense game that always felt like it would go down to the wire.

According to another tweet:

West Po down to the wire against Oscar Smith but fall 57-56. Unfortunate turn towards the end where a Wolverine with a chance to seal the win with a layup slipped on wet floor and got called for traveling.
