A couple of prospects from the Class of 2022 that helped Jamestown enjoy a 18-5 overall record last winter are on the move. Point guard Xavier Brown and center Judah Egbo will continue their basketball careers at prep powerhouse Oak Hill Academy, a boarding school located in Mouth of Wilson.

Brown, a savvy 6-foot-1 floor general, put up 16.3 points per game, 6.7 assists, five rebounds and four steals per game on his way to 1st Team All-Region honors in 4A. This came one season after winning a Class 1 state title during his freshman campaign with the Surry Cougars.

The only other player who earned 1st Team All-Region 4A honors as a sophomore during the 2019-20 season was King's Fork's Jayden Epps, who is rated among the Top 100 prospects nationally by Rivals.com in the Class of 2022.

Xavier, who currently holds an offer from Bryant University, hails from a basketball family. His sister, Keyana, played at Old Dominion for three seasons before graduating from D-2 Virginia State University. In addition, two of his brothers - Chris and Dominique - played College Basketball at the Division II and Division III levels, respectively.

Egbo averaged 12 points, 10.7 rebounds and four blocks per game while converting 48% of his field goal attempts. The 6-foot-8 big man is known more for his defensive prowess, but his offensive game showed improvement with the Eagles a season ago on his way to earning 2nd Team All-Region accolades. Like Brown, he holds an offer from Bryant University, but is drawing interest from a host of schools, such as East Carolina.

"What I really like is they make their teammates better," commented Jamestown Head Basketball Coach Chris Brown about his son, Xavier Brown, and Egbo after an overtime victory over Bay Rivers District rival Lafayette last February.

Oak Hill, which has been led by Steve Smith since 1984, has produced upwards of 30 NBA players, names that include the likes of Jerry Stackhouse, Carmelo Anthony, Ty Lawson, Josh Smith, Rajon Rondo and Brandon Jennings, among others. Since 2005, the Warriors boast a gaudy record of 535-51 (.882) while facing several nationally-ranked foes annually. They've won nine national titles, the most recent one coming in 2016.
