There were solid performances by
many this week in the Piedmont area for a number of different teams.
No need for a long introduction today, let's get right to recognizing
the our weekly top performers.

Quarterbacks

Gavin Patrick, Fluvanna County

The
Flucos quarterback led his team back from a 14-0 deficit to score 34
unanswered points in the win while going 12-32 through the air and 241
yards. Patrick hooked up with two different receivers twice for
touchdowns accumulating 4 scoring passes on the night.

Josh Stallings, Eastern View

The
Eastern View quarterback made the most of his opportunities in the game
against the Chargers and helped his team establish a well balanced
attack on offense. Stallings completed 19 of 30 pass attempts for 177
yards and three touchdowns in the victory.

Gary Jennings, Colonial Forge

In
a game that the Eagles needed to avoid an 0-2 start to the season,
Jennings led the way on offense as he accounted for all four of the
teams scores. The senior rushed for three touchdowns while compiling
89 yards on the ground on 21 attempts. Jennings added the other score
through the air on a night when he threw for 123 passing yards on four
completions.

Joey Benden, Massaponax

In
his second game under center, Benden displayed another brilliant
performance running the Panthers triple option offense averaging nearly
17 yards per carry. Benden finished the game with 152 yards on nine
rushing attempts and scored three times on the ground.

Malik Bartee, Charlottesville

In
just his second start as the field general of the Black Knights
offense, Bartee impacted the game as more than just a passer. The
Charlottesville senior provided 253 rushing yards on just 19 carries
while scoring three touchdowns on the ground. In addition, Bartee
hauled in a 62 yard pass for a score on a reverse pass play for his
team.

Aaron Walters, Liberty-Bealeton

Since
taking the reigns at quarterback during the second half of the 2013
season, the Eagles have only lost one contest and Walters had another
solid performance leading Liberty's offensive unit on Friday. Walters
rushed for 101 yards and scored a touchdown while adding a scoring toss
and 39 yards through the air during the first half of the teams' game
against Orange County.

Running Backs

Kendrick Kube, Eastern View

The
Cyclones running back has become a staple on this list over the past
two seasons. Against Chancellor, Kube rushed for 216 yards on 28
carries while hauling in 4 receptions for 28 yards. The senior scored
once on the ground as well as through the air attack.

Logan Allen, Powhatan

The
Indians started the 2014 season off in style with a thrashing of
Midlothian. The senior running back showed why he is one of the top
backfield rushers in the Piedmont area as he racked up 197 yards on
just 13 attempts and scored three times against the Trojans.

Bo Fields, Massaponax

During
the Panthers prolific offensive performance on Friday in which the
group accumulated over 600 yards of offense, Fields was the teams
leading rusher with 183 yards on 15 attempts with one touchdown run.

JeColby White, King George

The
Foxes running back led a dominant rushing attack as he carried for 156
yards on just 13 attempts and scored twice in the teams victory over
Stafford.

Rashad Brock, Charlottesville

The
Black Knights junior has shown potential to be a dynamic runner on the
Charlottesville squad in the past. On Friday, Brock delivered a great
performance in the victory over Culpeper County as he went for 140
yards rushing on 17 attempts with one touchdown.

Martin Parker, Liberty-Bealeton

The
Eagles offense has been dominant in the two games they have played to
start the season and a huge factor has been the running game. In the
65-0 defeat over Orange County, Parker led the Eagles with 144 yards on
the ground while scoring three touchdowns in the contest.

TJ Hogan, Liberty-Bealeton

Parker's
backfield rushing mate, Hogan didn't quite top the century mark (albeit
only during two quarters of play) with 94 yards on the ground but
helped his team with a consistent 1-2 punch on the ground and also
delivered three scores in the running game for his teams' win over the
Hornets.

Malachai Harrison, North Stafford

Two
straight solid performances by the sophomore in the rushing attack for
the Wolverines leaves the team hoping they have found a replacement to
Von Purvis. Harrison carried 25 times for North Stafford and
accumulated 137 yards while scoring twice on the ground in the teams
victory.

Juh-Kwquan McCauley, Wilson Memorial

After
a slow start, the Green Hornets rusher fueled the teams offensive
attack in the second half as the group ran away with a 29-0 victory.
McCauley ended the night with 21 carries for 131 yards and one
touchdown in the defeat of R.E. Lee.

George Cheetham, Courtland

After
a performance to be forgotten in week 1, the Cougars established their
well-known rushing attack this week with Cheetham leading the way on
the ground for the team. Cheetham carried the ball 15 times for 123
yards and a score in the Courtland victory.

Hank Hoover, Central-Woodstock

The
Falcons junior scored the first points of the season for the team in
the first quarter with a 14 yard rumble and the nights events
snowballed from there as Central scored 38 points before their
opponents lit up the scoreboard. Hoover rushed for 112 yards on 13
carries in the victory.

Remone Miller, Colonial Forge

Although
he never found the endzone, Miller played a part in the Eagles
offensive success particularly on the ground. The backfield specialist
led both teams in rushing yards with 108 and did so on just 13 carries
for the game.

Kyree Koonce, Monticello

In
his first regular season action since breaking his leg midway through
2013, Koonce touched the ball just three times but showed off his
abilities during each opportunity. The senior scored all three times
he carried the ball on runs of 62, 39, and 4 to end the night with 105
yards on the ground.

Zachary Frazier, Stuarts Draft

The
Cougars quickly established a rushing attack with a trio of rushers
that included Frazier who notched 102 yards on just nine carries as the
team ran away with the win in their season opener. Frazier scored once
on the night.

Zach Yates, Brentsville

The
Tigers used a solid rushing attack to plow through the Wildcats on
Friday for their second consecutive win after snapping a losing streak
that dated back to 2010. Yates solid efforts in the ground game were
culminated with three rushing scores in the victory.

Forest Corado and Marcus Pitts, Manassas Park

The
duo provided a supurb rushing attack behind the Cougars offensive line
as each gained 56 rushing yards (Corado: 10 carries, Pitts: 8 carries).
Corado found the endzone on a 10 yard touchdown run and also pulled
down two receptions in the game for 36 yards. Jonathon Bunner also scored for Manassas Park with a 1 yard touchdown against the Patriots defense.

Kevin McCarthy, Albemarle

The
senior was one of the few bright spots for the Patriots in their
difficult season opening loss to Massaponax. McCarthy carried the ball
23 times for 104 yards and scored once in the rushing attack. The
Patriots star also had a 93 yard kick return for a score in the second
quarter of the game.

Wide Receivers

Keyshawn Johnson, James Monroe

The
senior was a factor for the Yellow Jackets although his team came out
on an unfavorable side in the teams' competition with North Stafford.
Johnson had 4 catches for 83 yards in the game and also ran the ball
three times for 90 yards. The biggest portion of the rushing yards
came on an 81 yard touchdown run. The 2015 prospect also made his
presence felt in other places during the game as he recorded 5 tackles
from his safety position on defense and returned two kicks totaling 80
return yards.

Henry Kreienbaum, Western Albemarle

The
Warriors defeated Waynesboro in a closer contest than many of the
prognosticators expected and Kreienbaum played a key role in the
Western victory. The receiver hauled in four receptions for 114 yards
and two touchdowns in the teams' victory.

Macen Dahl, Fluvanna County

In
his teams' victory, Dahl was the recipient on 8 of his quarterbacks' 12
completed passes and compiled 168 yards receiving while scoring twice
for the Flucos.

Vinnie Agee, Fluvanna County

The
aerial assualt against the Knights was dominant on Friday and Agee
played a factor for Fluvanna County with two touchdown receptions in
the game.

Jeremy Hokenson, Courtland

The
Cougars receiver caught all three passes that were completed by the
team on the day and amassed 142 receiving yards in the process. Two of
the three receptions resulted in touchdowns (97,35). In addition,
Hokenson added more points for the team when he nailed a pair of field
goal attempts (31, 37) in the second half of the contest against
Riverbend.

Jamal Parker, Skyline

Costly
turnovers erased a night that delivered a relatively solid passing game
for the Hawks. Parker had four receptions for 131 yards and a score in
the loss to Fauquier.

Defense and Special Teams

Brentsville Defense

The
Tigers unit blanked the Wildcats and helped the team earn their second
victory in as many games in 2014. Similar to the season opener,
Brentsville won the turnover margin as they intercepted Warren County
twice and pounced on a loose ball change possession during the game. Carson Hale also played a big role with three sacks during the evenings' events.

Raejion White, Fluvanna County

While
the Flucos offense attack has been noted with several great
performances, the defense also did a stellar job after starting the
game by giving up 14 points to Spotsylvania. White played a role
throughout the game on defense for Fluvanna as he compiled 14 total
tackles, 6.5 of which resulted in lost yardage for the Knights.

Shaun Kolb and Tyler Williams, Manassas Park

The
Cougars defense played a pivotal part in the Manassas Park victory on
Friday night. Senior Shaun Kolb made an interception on a pass by the
Park View quarterback and returned the pick 24 yards for a touchdown.
Linebacker Tyler Williams added to the Cougars positive turnover ratio
by grabbing two interceptions during the contest.

Jose Alfaro, Manassas Park

The
Cougars place kicker also had a solid night during the teams' all
around performance. Alfaro made three PAT's in three attempts and
added a 26 yard field go in the defeat of Park View.
