Roanoke Catholic and North Cross resumed their rivalry that was restarted last year after. The Celtics led 22-0 at halftime but North Cross roared back to tie the game at 22 halfway thru the final period. However, Roanoke Catholic drove the length of the field to pull out a 30-22 win. Quarterback Bryant Guilfoyle made the winning touchdown with five seconds remaining in the game. Myka English gained 93 yards while scoring two touchdowns. Maurice Garrison led North Cross with two passing touchdowns with one on the ground.

Woodberry Forest and Benedictine played another exciting game with the Tigers pulling out a 35-26 win on the road. Woodberry Forest trailed 13-7 early in the 2nd quarter after two touchdown runs from Jay Woolfolk. The Tigers took the lead with two touchdown passes from Will Wideman just before the end of the 1st half. Jameel Wilson, who scored three total touchdowns, broke free for a 75-yard touchdown run in the 3rd quarter. He finished with 202 yards. Woolfolk answered with a 76-yard touchdown run but the Cadets missed two extra points and trailed 28-26 midway thru the 3rd quarter. Wilson extended the lead to nine (35-26) in the 4th quarter with a 2-yard reception from Wideman for the games final points. Wideman ended the contest with three touchdowns to go along with his 252 passing yards. Khalid Thomas connected with Wideman for a 63-yard touchdown and finished with 105 receiving yards. Warren Matthews had 3.5 sacks and a forced fumble while being credited with nine tackles. Woolfolk led Benedictine with 158 yards rushing and three touchdowns while passing for 151 yards and a touchdown. Jack Hall had 2.5 sacks for the defense.

Flint Hill and Potomac School warmed up for their big Division matchup on Saturday with each school winning handily. Flint Hill defeated St James 48-15 while Potomac School smashed Paul VI 41-13.

Patrick Routsis threw four touchdown passes to lead St Christopher's to a 37-0 rout of Bishop Ireton. Thomas Caravati had twotouchdown receptions. Charlie Boggs helped the Saints defense limit Bishop Ireton to only four 1st downs and negative six total yards. Boggs had eight tackles while recording 1 of 3 Saints sacks.

Week eight did nothing to separate the top teams and the coaches will have a difficult time leaving two schools at home for the 1st round of the playoffs.

Covenant won a back-and-forth matchup against city rival St Anne's-Belfield 32-28 to improve to 6-1. Quarterback John Huemme scored the game winning touchdown with two minutes to play. He finished with 120 yards passing and 115 yards rushing.

Christchurch, who lost their season opener to Covenant, has won six straight including a 35-6 win over Isle of Wight. The Seahorses scored all 35 of their points in the 1st half. Junior running back Sebastian McGill totaled 128 yards from scrimmage with two touchdowns while Jamar Darboe and Nick Thompson combined for 22 tackles. Thompson also had an interception return for a touchdown. Hunter Edwards rushed for 131 yards for Isle of Wight but he did not reach the endzone.

Lamareon James continued his outstanding year by scoring four touchdowns during Norfolk Christian's 49-19 win over Portsmouth Christian. James had almost 300 yards of offense including a 99 yard touchdown reception. He had 77 yards rushing and 148 yards receiving with four total touchdowns. He scored touchdowns on both of his receptions. Quarterback Alvonte Lawton threw four touchdown passes among his five completions for 191 passing yards. The Ambassadors led 49-7 heading into the 4th quarter. They improved to 6-1 as they fight for a spot in the DII playoffs.

Freshman Robert Montgomery helped St Stephen's St Agnes to their 2nd win since he took over as quarterback with a 22-14 win over St Albans. Montgomery had his best game among his four starts with 176 yards passing and three touchdowns. Tight End Charles Thompson caught four passes for 37 yards and two touchdown receptions. Senior William Lyons had 70 yards receiving and 44 yards rushing with a score.

Tink Boyd scored two early touchdowns and Donavan Goode ran for 163 yards and two scores as Trinity Episcopal defeated Bishop O Connell 35-21. Boyd finished with nine receptions for 202 receiving yards. Goode scored on runs of 12 and 4 yardsThe Titans led 21-0 after the 1st quarter and added another touchdown on the last play of the 1st half to take a 28-7 lead at halftime. Bradley McGee scored twice for the Knights on a 15 yard touchdown reception and 10-yard interception return. Running back Jahmal Banks had a 145 yards from scrimmage while adding a receiving touchdown.
