Private School Players of the Week 3

There were several nominations for Virginiapreps Private Schools Players of the Week. Here are this weeks winners.



University of Virginia baseball recruit Will Allocca was selected Virginiapreps Private Schools Offensive Player of the Week after leading Collegiate to a comeback win over Trinity Episcopal. He finished with 19 carries for net 211 yards (11.1 yard per carry) with all four of his touchdowns coming in the seconds half. Allocca was 4 of 9 passing for 62 yards and he added three unassisted tackles, two assisted tackles with one tackle for loss. Finally, he had three punts for 33.3 yard average.



Junior linebacker Thomas Dunn was selected Virginiapreps Private Schools Defensive Player of the Week for Benedictine recording eight solo tackles and two assist including two quarterback sacks and 4.5 tackles for loss. Dunn also had a forced fumble to end a drive near the goal line. Dunn will have a chance to meet Allocca on Friday when Benedictine travels to play Collegiate School.

Bishop Sullivan Darius Whitehurst - Def


Bishop Sullivan junior linebacker Darius Whitehurst (5-foot-11, 205) recorded 11 solo tackles and 3 unassisted tackles in the Crusaders loss to Benedictine. Whitehurst had two tackles for loss and a sack.

Benedictine Scott Bracey - Offense

Benedictine quarterback and Duke University recruit Scott Bracey finished with 99 yards rushing with two touchdowns and he was 3 of 3 passing for 91 yards and a touchdown all in the first half to help the Cadets beat Bishop Sullivan.

FUMA Rashon Torrence POW



Rashon Torrence rushed for 155 yards on 19 carries while averaging 8.2 yards per carry to help Fork Union defeat Goochland.

Collegiate Samuel Sommers


Samuel Sommers finished with 5 unassisted tackles with 1 sack for Collegiate School in their win over Trinity Episcopal. Sommers had three tackles for loss and also deflected a punt on fourth down.

Collegiate Reed Kellam


Senior linebacker Reed Kellam seemed to be in on every tackles finishing with 6 unassisted tackles and 11 assisted tackles including 3.5 tackles for loss. Kellam is a 2-time Virginiapreps All-State performer.

Flint Hill Cameron Vaughn


Flint Hill Sr. running back Cameron Vaughn scored four touchdowns. He rushed for 191 yards and three touchdowns while adding 1 reception for 14 yards and a touchdown in a victory over Paul the VI.

Fork Union - Julius Puryear Offense

Fork Union senior Julius Puryear had to fill in at quarterback and was 9 of 15 passing for 110 yards and two touchdowns to help the Blue Devils defeat Goochland.

North Cross Davis Call - Defense

Junior Davis Call made six tackles including two tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, a fumble recovery, and two tipped passes. Call has been credited with 27 tackles in three games.

Bishop Sullivan George Wahee


Bishop Sullivan George Wahee displayed his game-breaking ability every time he touch the ball against Benedictine. He beat his defender for a 80-yard touchdown then turned a bubble screen into a 79-yard touchdown reception. He finished with 202 yard receiving on three receptions while adding 76 return yards and an interception.
