Turner Ashby blew thru the Region 3A West Region championship winning three games by a combined score of 28-3. The Knights defeated Rustville 10-2 after jumping out to a 7-0 lead after the 1st two innings of play. Brenan Hanifee, Trent Abernathy and Logan Conley all had RBI singles in the 1st inning and Conley added another RBI with a bases loaded walk in the 2nd inning. Ross Detamore drove in a run with a ground out and he made it 8-0 with an RBI triple in the 4th inning. Eric Carter pitched five innings to earn the win.

Rustburg defeated Western Albermarle 4-3 in the Region semi-finals and then defeated Staunton River 4-3 to earn a State tournament bid. A bases-loaded walk-off single by Josh Campbell laced ended the game in the 8th inning. After defeating Staunton River, Rustburg played Turner Ashby later in the afternoon.

The breaks appear to be falling in place for Poquoson who won the 3A East Region championship with a come-from-behind 4-3 win over William Monroe. The Islanders trailed 3-0 but tied the game with three runs in the 5th inning. Keith Lawson manufacture the go-ahead run scoring on a passed ball. It was the third straight nail-biter for Poquoson who defeated York 5-4 with a 9th inning walk-off single from Austin Gault and who defeated Brentville with Lawson drawing a bases-loaded walk to win the Region semi-final.

William Monroe defeated Hopewell 5-0 and Colonial Heights 17-0 to reach the Region championship game.

Rustburg will face Poquoson on Friday at 9am at Liberty University and that game will be followed by William Monroe against Turner Ashby at 12pm.
