COLONIAL BEACH (5-1) at ESSEX (4-2)
This game is very important to both squads looking to be among the top 4 of the 1A Eastern Section playoff race. The Drifters have a strong defense and will challenge running backs Leo Gaskin and Sterling Hammond to make plays. Lamar Lucas will be keyed on when Colonial Beach has the ball. If Lucas and company can successfully run the ball and control the clock then chances that the game will overshadow the homecoming activities.

PREDICTION: Essex 24 Colonial Beach 20

SUSSEX CENTRAL (5-1) at FRANKLIN (1-5)
It hasn't gone as planned for the Franklin Broncos but on Friday they are looking to make up for their shortcomings in one game. Franklin will need to win their last 4 in order to avoid Coach Darren Parker's first losing regular season. Corey Porter and Javontae Baker will be called upon to pull off the upset. Sussex Central cannot be looking ahead to next week as Franklin will throw everything they got at the Tigers. Don't expect Franklin to stand up well against the constant pounding that will occur on Friday.

PREDICTION: Sussex Central 30 Franklin 12

SOUTHAMPTON (1-5) at SURRY COUNTY (6-0)
Coach Willie Gillus returns to the house he built looking for a big win as the Indians look to make the playoffs. The Indians are loaded with talent and will give Surry their biggest challenge so far. Coby Williams speed at running back will test the Cougars early and often. Expect the defense led by Steve Smallwood Jr. to make the plays necessary to make the Cougar homecoming a celebration. Timothy Marsh Jr. should be able to have a big day through the air as the Cougars have a distinct advantage with the ball in this one.

PREDICTION: Surry County 20 Southampton 6

PARK VIEW (3-3) at BRUNSWICK (3-3)
The Dragons are looking to pull off the big win in Lawrenceville versus their rival. Brunswick has the top rushing quarterback in 2A in Darren Owens who has been sensational since returning from injury. The Bulldogs will also try to avoid looking ahead to their big 2 game stretch on the road. Bret Cliborne will need protection in order to help move the ball successfully versus the aggressive defense of Brunswick. Park View's defense will have a tough task of stopping the run of the Bulldogs.

PREDICTION: Brunswick 36 Park View 14

WASHINGTON & LEE (6-0) at NORTHUMBERLAND (4-2)
Washington & Lee is the top rated team in 1A and will soon have a few big dates left on their schedule. Those games will determine whether they can be the Northern Neck champions and a chance for another title. Sometimes Coach Todd Jones squad has a habit of playing down to their competition like they did versus Rappahannock. The Indians are not trying to go winless in the district and they have the chance to catch the Eagles looking forward to their Rappahannock rematch. Dexter Thompson and Marion Pollard will need to get off early to end all hope.

PREDICTION: Washington & Lee 44 Northumberland 14
