After some less than pleasant weather last week, the sun is out and it’s gorgeous outside from a temperature standpoint. It’s starting to feel more like Fall weather, but how long will it last?

Since I’m trying to enjoy it a bit, I didn’t cram as hard with in-depth analysis / write-ups for tonight’s games. My apologies and I’ll try to make up for it on a future date. Let’s jump to some A-List and B-List games for the evening as well as my ‘757’ Predictions Battle with Coach Ed Young, my co-host on ESPN Radio 94.1’s 757 Saturday Sports Talk (heard each Saturday from 10 AM to Noon EST) . . .

Hat's A-List Games for Thursday 9/2/21:

Stone Bridge (1-0) at Centreville (1-0) . . .
More about this game in Jim McGrath’s Preview Here.

Matt Hatfield Says – Stone Bridge 26-14

Unity Reed (1-0) at Colonial Forge (0-0) . . . More about this game in Devin Payne’s Preview Here.

Matt Hatfield Says –
Colonial Forge 28-16
Devin Payne Says – Colonial Forge 21-14

Hat's B-List Games for Thursday 9/2/21:

Lake Braddock (1-0) at Madison (0-1) . . .
A chance for Lake Braddock to show it is a contender in Region 6C by taking on a Madison team that hung tough with Stone Bridge for a half last week before falling 20-0.

Matt Hatfield Says –
Madison 29-13

L.C. Bird (0-1) at Thomas Dale (1-0) . . . More about this game in the Richmond Region Preview Here.

Matt Hatfield Says – Thomas Dale 34-13
Byron Jones Says – Thomas Dale 35-21
Danny Lewis Says – Thomas Dale 37-16

Glen Allen (0-1) at Varina . . . More about this game in the Richmond Region Preview Here.

Matt Hatfield Says – Varina 27-19
Byron Jones Says – Varina 35-17
Danny Lewis Says – Varina 35-10

Hat vs. Coach Young in the 757 Predictions Battle:

Bayside at First Colonial (0-1) . . .
The Patriots try to give Ty Traister his first win over a Bayside squad that hasn’t lost to First Colonial since 20006 in a 28-27 nail-biter.

Matt Hatfield Says – Bayside 26-10
Coach Ed Young Says – Bayside 30-6

Cox (0-1) at Kempsville (0-1) . . . Pro Football Hall of Famer Alan Faneca tries to get his first win at the helm at Cox, who has beaten Kempsville 15 straight times and not lost to the Chiefs since 2005.

Matt Hatfield Says – Kempsville 20-12
Coach Ed Young Says – Cox 18-12

Landstown (0-1) at Tallwood (0-1) . . . This could be a first team to score wins as both had some struggles offensively a week ago.

Matt Hatfield Says – Tallwood 12-8
Coach Ed Young Says – Landstown 18-16

Kellam (1-0) at Ocean Lakes (1-0) . . . The Dolphins have dominated this series lately and Kellam will have their hands full slowing the passing combo of Landon Spell to Ryley McIntosh.

Matt Hatfield Says –
Ocean Lakes 35-13
Coach Ed Young Says – Ocean Lakes 28-20

Phoebus (1-0) at Menchville (1-0) . . . Can Menchville follow up a nice showing in its opener with Granby against one of the state’s top teams in Class 3? Not if the Phantoms deep and talented receiving corps, led by Kymri Gray, have anything to say about the matter.

Matt Hatfield Says – Phoebus 35-6
Coach Ed Young Says – Phoebus 40-0

Currituck, NC (1-0) at Hickory (0-1) . . . Coached by former Ocean Lakes boss Jim Prince, Currituck also has a scheduled matchup with Lake Taylor on deck this month.

Matt Hatfield Says – Hickory 22-10
Coach Ed Young Says – Hickory 24-16

Deep Creek (0-1) at Manor (1-0) . . . The Mustangs of Manor put up a boatload of points – 46 to be exact – with Raquan Mills steering the offense against Lakeland. Meanwhile, Deep Creek looks to rid the bad taste in its mouth from a 49-3 loss to Oscar Smith.

Matt Hatfield Says – Deep Creek 36-15
Coach Ed Young Says – Deep Creek 30-8

Denbigh at Grafton . . . Don’t be surprised to see some kind of big special teams play, such as a blocked kick, punt or long return, be the difference in this one.

Matt Hatfield Says –
Denbigh 21-14
Coach Ed Young Says – Grafton 21-14

York at Gloucester . . . Doug Pereira’s Falcons have fared well lately against Gloucester in recent years.

Matt Hatfield Says – York 30-13
Coach Ed Young Says – York 28-16
