Mother Nature is playing a little bit of havoc with the schedule in parts of Northern Virginia, Richmond and around the Commonwealth. We only got in eight games involving VHSL playoff action at the regional level on Wednesday night, though we still had some storylines.
Greensville punched its ticket to the State Playoffs by eliminating George Lancaster-led Bluestone. Meanwhile, Huguenot in Region 4B took a step closer to returning to the State Playoffs by beating a Monacan team with dazzling junior guard Joe Bamisile, who scored 43 points in an upset of Class 5 title contender L.C. Bird earlier this season and grabbed an offer from Virginia Tech this week.
Around Tidewater, traditional Norfolk powers Maury and Noview rolled, handling Peninsula District members Hampton and Menchville, respectively. Some games initially slated for Thursday have been pushed back to Friday. We’ll have them in our Picks then.
