The last name should read familiar to basketball fans all around the Commonwealth. That's because his dad starred at Patrick Henry High School in Roanoke, where he won a State Championship, before going on to play College Hoops at both George Mason and Virginia Tech.
Yuri Manns earned 2nd Team All-Region honors last season as a sophomore for the L.C. Bird Skyhawks, coached by his father, Troy Manns. A perennial Championship contender, Bird went 12-3 overall during the abbreviated 2020-21 campaign, beating Manchester for the Region 5B title before falling to Green Run in the State Semifinals.
Yuri, who checks in at 6-foot-3, is starting to get some attention from schools at the next level, drawing his first offer from Radford University along with interest from a host of other programs, including Old Dominion University. His smarts for the game and pinpoint shooting touch make him a Class of 2023 prospect to monitor moving forward.
As Team Loaded 804 went 3-2 this past weekend at the Phenom 757 Showcase held at the Virginia Beach Sports Center, we caught up with Yuri to discuss his development, recruitment, playing for pops and more. Check it out below..
