Williamsburg Christian Academy wins DIII State Championship with a 77-55 win over Amelia Academy
Williamsburg Christian Academy sprinted out to a 19-4 lead in the 1st quarter and held on to win their 1st State title since 2012 with a 77-55 win over Amelia Academy. Dexter Radcliffe scored 20 points and Cle'von Greene added 18 points despite being in foul trouble most of the game.
After trailing by 15, the Patriots ended the 1st quarter on a 13-1 run to close the gap to 20-14.
Dashawn Cook had a big second quarter scoring 11 points including three 3-pointers to give the Eagles a 38-19 lead with a minute to go before halftime.
Amelia Academy sliced 10 points off the Williamsburg Christian lead to pull within seven but they still trailed by double-digits entering the final period. Amelia Academy again pulled to within seven after a 3-point play from Maxwell Morrow made the score 61-54. However, the Patriots went cold scoring their final point on a free throw with 3:39 to go. The Eagles scored the games final 14 points to earn the win.
