Michael Cherry, who'll be representing Team USA in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, chats with VirginiaPreps.com's Matthew Hatfield via ZOOM on Wednesday, June 30th about his journey and qualifying for the Summer Games.
Cherry made his first Olympic team by finishing second in the Men's 400-meter at the Olympic Trials back on June 20th. His time of 44.35 ranks him 4th in the entire world and 3rd amongst competitors that will actually run in the Olympics. He has previously earned multiple gold medals for Team USA in the World Relays and World Championship events.
The former National Champion at LSU is one of three sprinters headed to Tokyo to represent the U.S. The Olympics begin on Friday, July 23rd and run through Sunday, August 8th, televised on NBC.
