Sherando vs John Handley

Handleys back up is capable and it also looked like Sherandos qb was dealing with something as well. Good old fashion rivalry game.

Graham will host whoever comes out of C in the semis. The only way they could play Poquoson ,Riverheads or SouthHampton would be in Salem.

Congrats to gladiators01 on the season win! He and freeatlast2013 waged a tight battle for the last part of the season. Also, Thanks Mike for once again running a great contest that certainly adds to the excitement and interest in the season!

Pick em Playoff Rules:

Everyone will compete against each other just like during the regular season. Each week we will have eliminations until a Champion is crowned. Eligibility for the playoffs is based on regular season participation. Here are the players that are eligible:

Here's how it works:

Everyone starts with 0 playoff points and points are accumulated throughout the playoffs.


At the end of Round 1 the Top 16 will advance.

At the end of Round 2 the Top 8 will advance.

At the end of Round 3 the Top 4 will advance.

At the end of Round 4 the Top 2 will advance.

At the end of Round 5 the Champion will be determined.


Ties for all rounds will be broken by who had more regular season points. If there is a tie for regular season points then the highest most recent week will be used until the tie is broken. (Playoff weeks considered first, then Week 11, 10, 9...etc until tie is broken) Good luck and enjoy!

Essex 14 Westmoreland 7 Halftime

I was at this game today - my first NND game in many years. The new Westmoreland stadium is very nice and Westmoreland came very close to protecting the house. They had a TD called back with about 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter that would have put them ahead (assuming they make the extra point). Penalties and turnovers hurt both teams at time. Penalties especially hurt Westmoreland on their last drive. In addition to the offensive pass interference that took the TD away, they had a couple more penalties after that and had to punt with just under 2 minutes left when facing a 4th and 30 (or 40).

Were you there kwhs95fan? Do you think Westmoreland moving the ball easily at times through the air, possibly exposed something in the Essex defense? Have a good one!

Every team has a bit of a weakness, and for many high schools, it's pass defense. Westmoreland, just happens to have one of the best QBs in Class 1 in Tolson, not to mention this is a bitter rivalry game. Essex definitely can't afford to have 3 turnovers in a game in the playoffs though. I'm sure Coach Jones will fix those things moving forward though. I fully expect it to be Rappahannock-Essex 2 in the regional championship game in a few weeks and I expect it will be another war.
