Everyone playing for 2nd

I've never been a fan of private schools joining the VHSL. That's what VISAA is for.

I know that Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy will be next to join...or at least they expressed interest in joining the VHSL...in 2025. I don't know what district they will be assigned to or the classification they will be in.

I do have a worry that later down the line, a lot of these "dad-type AAU style teams" posing as private schools will get the itch to join the VHSL. And then you will have a situation to where those same schools are immediately competing for and winning state titles in the same sports. And that won't make things fun for the public schools.

Maybe I'm just thinking hypotheticals, but according to the notes from the July 30th Alignment Committee meeting, the VHSL is going to green light any private school that wants to join the league.

Now, I know that the counter argument to that is, "You just gotta get better." But if we ever get to a point to where; over the next decade or two, we see more and more "privates" apply and receive VHSL membership, that won't be good for competitiveness amongst public schools in the future.
Smith Mountain Lake will be in Class 1 Region B next year. Very small school. Only 257 students from K-12.

Curious About Parking for a potential Salem vs GW matchup next week

If Salem ends up playing GW next Friday I plan to come down from Lynchburg to Danville to watch the game. Does anyone know what the parking situation looks like at GW? Is there much parking or should I plan to get there pretty early in advance if I do end up going if these two teams meet next Friday. I’ve been to Danville and have driven through it a handful of times but I’ve never been to the football stadium.

Hayfield

I agree! There has to be money involved for FC to go after the VHSL. When you start digging, a lot of BS is going to be uncovered. So much for amateur sports these days.
IF that injunction is granted, likely a big IF, the only ones guaranteed to make any money will likely be the attorneys. For FC this is likely much more about trying to save face and maybe some jobs.

What we could have had for the 1st round of playoffs.

A - If Virginia adopted the WV 1 vs 16 statewide format

1 Rappahannock

16 Northumberland

8 Honaker

9 Northampton

4 Bath Co.

13 Grayson Co.

5 Holston

12 Westmoreland

3 Rye Cove

14 Narrows

6 Eastside

11 Brunswick

7 Essex

10 George Wythe

2 Altavista

15 Grundy

To note: Rappahannock and Altavista were tied. As were Eastside and Essex. Going by the tiebreakers listed on VHSL site, this was my interpretation and could be incorrect. Feel free to correct me.

What we could have had for the 1st round of playoffs.

I mainly post on the other board that concentrates on my part of the world. Something I've done the last few years is posted what the playoff matchups we could've had if we stayed with East/West format and if we adopted the format West Virginia uses (statewide 1 vs 16, no reseeding of bracket) instead of switching back to the regions. The different match ups we rarely get to see that would be fun as hell from a fan perspective is interesting to me. Also, with that being said, I understand why Virginia switched back to regions. Schools like Thomas Walker and Parry McCluer were getting murdered when it came to travel in the playoffs. So, I get it, but I enjoyed to East/West when we had it. Greatly reduced number of rematches was a big plus as a fan. Also, with these scenarios, us sickos would have the chance to have a couple of weekends where we could geek out with some great HS ball with multiple games at the same time if you didn't feel like traveling.

If Virginia still did East/West instead of Regions

A - West

1 Rye Cove

16 Chilhowie

8 Narrows

9 Grundy

4 Eastside

13 Rural Retreat

5 Honaker

12 PH

3 Holston

14 Craig Co

6 George Wythe

11 Parry McCluer

7 Grayson Co

10 Thomas Walker

2 Bath Co.

If that injunction clears, and Hayfield gets reinserted I can only imagine the crying and complaining this thread go render smh. Yall really thought them people was going to bow out that gracefully? Meanwhile the VHSL is letting corruption spew across the entire state in various sports and schools. Stop it! Fairfax County is involved. Big Money is involved. Reputations, Professional and Executive Level integrities have been challenged, and now here we are. When Fairfax County Govt & Public Schools cleared them people, and VSHL decided to come and get involved late in the season like this was it caused a huge issue, and I'm willing to bet my life (And I love me some me) some high price attorneys are drawing up major litigation infractions on the VHSL. You can't let people like LCA get away with athletic murder, and condemn others. That's why I used the Nino Brown from New Jack City analogy last week. And that's why that Top executive women retired who had been with the VSHL since 1969 this past year. Them people in Charlottesville at the VSHL Headquarters don't got time for this stress and hot mess lol. They want the VSHL to go back to the Remember the Titans days when it went accordingly to the Good Ol Boy ways.
