Jefferson District Coach of the Year!

Conversation should just be between Fluvanna and Powhatan. Powhatan because Woodson is retiring and he took a team to the playoffs that most didn’t expect much from. Fluvanna for obvious reasons. Most deserving is Fluvanna, but could definitely understand Woodson getting it too. Edit: BK makes...

Powhatan might be moving to the Dominion District at the right time

We definitely get a little too "football-minded" on this forum when discussing districts, and understandably so as that is our focus in the fall. AD's make these decisions for the good of the whole as others have said. This is a win-win for Powhatan and the Dominion District as a whole, both...

    Million dollar question

mb, just got around to seeing the new alignment for next year. Looks like the Dominion is getting even bigger. I was with you that I didn’t think they would agree to put Powhatan in but it is the best fit overall for that school. We’ll see how well this works out.

Why is the 4A game at 5:30

The VHSL has posted a map for both W&M and Hampton U on where you can park. There are 4 reserved lots, but everything else with a P beside it is free game from what I hear. Here is the W&M map link.

HSHS v Nansemond River Game Day

Just curious because I came and watched the game from the home side and I didn't really get that take from the officials. What'd you see that you thought was so bad?

    Question

Like I said, with the video on full screen I can see the DB holding the receiver's arm, which constitutes DPI. When you have 2 flags from 2 different officials, it's probably a foul.

    Question

The PI at 10:55 on the YouTube video? I have to disagree. On full screen, I see the DB holding the receivers arm while the ball is still in the air. That is furthered by the fact that two officials threw their flags simultaneously (so they both saw a foul) and the official on the screen is...

    Question

That's a very good question. There's a gray area for sure when it comes to "the line," but some things are no brainers. Directing foul language or commentary towards an official is automatic. Also this year, the VHSL has sent out a memo to AD's and official's associations in reference to...

    Question

After watching the video, I'm fully convinced neither sideline official saw the end of the "catch," but only saw when the receiver was still inbounds. They were both in great position, and if this play happened on the opposite sideline where the wing official (HL) drifts downfield instead of...

    VHSL Clarification

I like this. Better yet, I love this. This may be the best decision the VHSL has made in my recent memory. We hound the VHSL when they make mistakes or poor decisions, but they deserve praise when they make a change that is better for everyone. Cheers to them.

    Halftime at Blacksburg

Like you've said previously, I don't take anything personal especially on a message board. Nothing's happened to me, although I have had this discussion before. It doesn't irritate me if that's what you are insinuating when you say I've "been here before." I'm just stating the facts as they are...

    Louisa at Dinwiddie

There was no press release like there should've been, but they did post the playoff format on the website at least. Here it is. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_7KGbWzA0LxX0VrYkdwVU5jeXc/preview?rm=minimal

LP or LPD is fine with me. Doesn’t bother me either way. LPD is actually the acronym VT uses for “Lunch Paul Defense” which inspired the name. I love messing with people too so I’m on board. Not for the regional rounds. That’s handled by an association commissioner. State rounds (semis and...

I never, ever get tired of these stories. I love it. Yes I did. Will do.

We have more in common than I thought. Softball is my primary sport. I did a game for MROS this past spring. I’ll message you.

Thanks Navy. You as well. I’ve driven from Richmond to the Northern Neck and had away fans complaining about home cooking when they're twice as close to their own house than I am o_O. I remember a while back you said you umpire baseball. I do as well and may be joining the Richmond association...

I was fortunate enough to be on the sideline watching as a spectator. I don’t know what the comment about the official on the Dinwiddie sidline is about, but that LJ is a great official and had a great game. All of them did. I didn’t see a single call I didn’t agree with. Even the one flag...

I will say my point still stands that a catch in high school requires way less than any other level. But that is not a catch even in high school. All the receiver needs to do in high school is pull the ball into his chest even for a split second to have “possession” and complete the catch (or...

    Halftime at Blacksburg

A catch in high school requires much, much less than what you think. Your opinion of a catch, as well as pretty much every other fan, is based off of what you see on Saturdays and Sundays. In high school, if the player has one foot down while having possession, the catch is completed. The player...

    Eastern View 11-0 @ Dinwiddie 11-0

That’s right. I remember Courtland was originally scheduled to play at Powhatan then got bumped up. Feels like longer ago than it actually was.
