Darrius Bratton DB & Mike Gravely OL of William Fleming are headed to FUMA Prep for a year to prepare them for college. Bratton had committed to UVA before a season ending injury & a coaching change. GL to these guys on preparing for college & maybe they'll get to keep playing football somewhere too.

Trying not to disrespect here but there's only one reason kids go to FUMA prep. Lots of talent. Really poor grades. Say injury or Coaching change all you want. Bratton never makes it out of Freshman year academically at UVA, so why waste a scholly.

There is a positive side. FUMA places almost 100% of their Prep squad to next level schools. Very best of luck to these kids. Not many get a 2nd chance. Make the most of it.

Generally, that's true, but one of the kids had a scholarship to UVA then had a season ending injury early last season and there was a coaching change at UVA as well. He may be taking a year to reassess his options.

I would say your generalization is mostly accurate and FUMA has a number of high profile successes to support your generalization as far as grades. That being said, you're not correct to generalize in this situation. For Bratton grades were not an issue. The injury certainly played a part and it is hard to say where the coaching change fits in that equation. It could easily be that UVA "suggested" FUMA for rehab because it has the added advantage of freeing a current year scholarship since Bratton's recovery may take longer than anticipated. Not sure about other WF kid. FUMA is normally known for improving academics but, they are also known as a great place to "grow" in to a D-1 body for those prospects that might be tweeners.

That's a point I had not considered. UVA may have "suggested" FUMA. Thanks for that insight.
