No surprise here so far. BUT, if Smith lacked anything in 2015, it was missing the featured running back. Coach Dee has the reputation of having a run happy offence. So, who will step up and have the ability to have a +1,000 yd season for the Tigers? Iike DeAngelo White #13 but he didn't get the rock often enough for teams to respect their running game last year? Any thoughts?
Everyone is chasing Oscar Smith here. Hands down the team to beat with a lot of pieces back on both sides of the ball, one of the state's most accomplished QB's in Shon Mitchell and a new Head Coach in Bill Dee that's no stranger to winning Championships.
Western Branch has a lot of components back and will be a tough out. We just ran a story on Zavion Hunt the other day on our front page (see that here). I'll be interested to see how much, if any, their offense changes this coming season.
Indian River still has plenty of talent and arguably the best player in the entire state with Devon Hunter. That gives them a chance in any game they play, but they also graduated a lot of key guys. How well they develop in the trenches should ultimately go a long way towards determining just how many games they win.
Grassfield is very big up front and the Grizzlies have a stable of RB's returning. However, they lose the district's most explosive playmaker in Grant Holloway (Florida) and their best edge rusher in Patrick Jones (Pitt).
King's Fork is a wild card with a new Head Coach. Nansemond River has been making steady progress the past few seasons and can see that continuing with some names on the verge of breaking out this year.

Seems like Mitchell has been QB for like 8 years! I remember watching his 1st game on ESPN when they beat LT 42-2 in 2013. They had McClease in the backfield and Brown and Sweat on the DL. Insanely good players on that team.
VHSL Rankings are out. How does this change the pre-season predictions? I. River didn't make the top 10 in 5A!!!! But Westerbranch & Grassfield did.
