Congratulations to Phoebus High School on securing the 2024 Class 4 State Championship title. As we look ahead to the 2025 season, Division 4 is set to become even more competitive with the additions of Louisa and Lafayette, two programs bringing exceptional talent and depth to the field.

Louisa enters the division with a young, promising team, including 2-3 highly-touted 5-star recruits at wide receiver and running back. Their combination of talent and youth makes them a serious contender for years to come. Lafayette, similarly, adds strength to the division with a roster largely intact, as only 4-5 seniors are graduating. These additions undoubtedly deepen the competition and set the stage for an exciting 2025 season.

While Phoebus boasts an outstanding quarterback, who was instrumental in their championship run, they face the challenge of significant roster turnover, losing many key seniors. My question is: How will Phoebus regroup and maintain their dominance in a division that is only getting stronger?

Varina, despite some chatter after their recent performances, returns nearly all of their key players, with only 3-4 seniors graduating. Their continuity and talent make them a formidable opponent to many powerhouses, especially as they face teams like Dinwiddie, Phoebus, Huguenot and Louisa, Dinwiddie will be navigating a quarterback change after losing a great QB in 6 and the loss of critical linemen and top receivers (#2 and #4). If these teams meet, Dinwiddie will need to make serious adjustments, as the scoreline in their previous matchup may not have reflected Varina’s full potential and maybe potential spots for other teams to attack. How does Dinwiddie plan to rebuild, and can Varina capitalize on their returning talent to cement themselves as a top contender?

With Louisa County and Lafayette emerging as new threats, the power dynamics in Division 4 are shifting. Should teams across the division be worried about the rise of these two programs, and how will the traditional powerhouses respond to the challenge?

Salem returns 2 explosive running backs that’s were sophomores last year and going to be juniors next year.

Will be replacing 3 very good offensive linemen. Those 3 linemen were top tier Salem offensive linemen, but Salem tends to reload in this department. Time will tell

Have a very solid qb coming up from JV.

Defense returns a lot of kids who were freshman sophomores and juniors this year.

Hard to tell how they will do, but other Salem teams have won state championships against similar talent while returning far less starters. Will just have to see how the kids grow in the off season.

Excited to see next years team.

Dinwiddie is not rebuilding. We had 8 seniors, 6 who played. We return 9 on defense & 7 on offense we will be fine

those young kids are gonna be sliced and diced by the rigors of Region 4B. It is gonna be an achievement just to make the top 12.

Why did Salem play Louisa so many time in the playoffs the past 4-5 years. Were they region D at one time?

I will always remember the 1999 team at Salem. They had to rebuild after 98 team (14-0 State Champs) graduated 19 starting positions. They proceeded to go 14-0 , State Champions

I can see everyone’s view I do believe if everyone stays healthy I see

(Early Predictions)

4A
Phoebus vs Lafayette

4B
Louisa vs Varina

4C
Tuscarora vs Loudoun County

4D
Salem vs GW

But like Bo said if Louisa do not have a line and defense I do not see it happening from what I see their entire line is coming back. If they can’t do good there I have

Varina Vs Dinwiddie or Huguenot even though they do not live up to the hype at times.

I was alive, and being hauled to the Salem games atthat time. But getting into fights on the hill with opposing peewee teams o linemen instead of paying attention. Did not realize that 99 team was so young.

Louisa because of their schedule is going to more than likely get the 4 seed unless Varina Dinwiddie or Huguenot loses 2 games. SOS will determine the #1 seed again. I just don’t see them making the Championship game right off the bat.

Dinwiddie isn’t rebuilding, but more so filling the shoes of key players like 6 and 4 is a big challenge. While the team is well-coached by one of the greatest coaching staff and disciplined, the other guys will need to step up and do twice as much to match the production of those past standouts. Because with that lost to Varina and with their team coming back we all have to wonder what will it really take for them to win. With teams like Varina, Lafayette, and Louisa bringing back a lot of returning talent, and Phoebus being the defending champs and I believe Huguenot playing that underdog role Dinwiddie will have to keep up to compete knowing their history I know it may not be hard, It’s a huge ask, but the field will show if they can rise to the occasion.

I know for a fact Dinwiddie will roll through their schedule I do not see anyone challenging them besides Maury and Thomas Dale if Maury will still be on the schedule now the playoffs will be the only concern

Phoebus will be have talent to win it all again next year but young and inexperienced. There is something that may stop the run but we will see if it happens or not first

Again I'm old but if memory serves SBU is off by just a touch. Offense returned two starters (Mullins and Haley), Defense returned four (Gumaer, Schwizer, Christley, Lewis). Still no small feet to have 15 new starters and repeat the 14-0 season.

For 4B, they need to take the Battlefield District teams and move them to 4C. It is ridiculous that one region has that many more teams than the other areas.

one thing I look forward to is now that Louisa in back in Region 4B their kids will take over the website again. It has been laying dormant since they have been gone.
