Yes and to Armstrong as well

Sheeesh Armstrong essentially got some of Henrico’s starters and most of the Varina’s backups.

Varina too. In my real time experience, some schools are set up for students to either sink or swim. Unfortunately places like Henrico, Springs (though they probably have the best system of support on the East side), Varina and some pockets of Herm’s population has a critical high need of support. While the western end of the county is filled with the best of the best staff in the state, the eastern side is kicked to the curb.

Yea man east end in a tough spot. The county offering 3k extra per year to work at those schools and they're still struggling to fill positions. I hate that the outside perception is what it is, but those fight videos from a couple of years ago did major damage in trying to help the East End image.

Richmond and East End kids are the best kids you’ll find and makes being an educator, rewarding. Met some great teachers and admin over there too, but those central office politics and some of the cancers they have to hire to fill positions, make it hard to keep the good people.

The wifey worked at Varina for a while and we talk about this a lot. Teacher retention is so low and so many great teachers have left over the past 6 years. You can make the same amount at Tucker or Freeman and deal with +50% less. The culture at Varina has also changed so much since you’ve been a student there. The teachers and admin put up with a lot a lot and those students deal with a lot of wild stuff on that campus. Henrico and Varina are already campus style so that doesn’t help at all.
