Richlands beat University High out of Tennessee 81-53 last night. They forced 30 turnovers but also turned the ball over 22 times themselves. 6 of the 13 players were football players who had 2 practices before last night's game.
Richlands plays a good Honaker tonight in the quarterfinals of the Virginia High tournament.

Richlands beats 5-5 Sullivan South, TN to advance to the Virginia High Tip-Off Tournament championship game tomorrow night. Will face Happy Valley, TN at 8:30. Richlands playing 4 games in 4 days after coming off of 2 days of practice with the full team, and 6 of the 13 players were football players who played in a state title game a week ago.
They played lights out 2nd half. First half was status quo....they've been shaky for all of their 1st qtrs so far this year. Usually start to heat up right before half time....then it's all over with after that.
They come out cold in the Arbys and they will be down by 50 in 3 shakes of a lambs tail. They need to play 4 solid qtrs.

GC beat a very very athletic and long team and Beat them down! The slow start was KC fast start. Nothing about that game was status quo. If that is status quo in GC... how come you don't have tons of state championships? Dunk after dunk.3 Pointers all over the place. If you have not seen GC play ....do it! Gate City gave up 5 inches just about all over the floor and dunked on KC on a regular basis. KC maybe an average private school . But they have athletes. GCs athletes will surprise you!
The status quo I was referring to was the somewhat slow start in the first qtr. They've had a few slow starts so far this year and pick up the pace in the 2nd qtr. Did the same thing at Daniel Boone and also let up on THS after being up by about 15 and let them back within 3 pts before stretching the lead back out.
I'm not dogging the Devils....they came out with their hair on fire in the 2nd qtr. And I'm not trying to disrespect the Knights....alot of the reason for GC being down by 10 was because the was hitting 3s and the big men were getting some good looks. Knox Christian is a quality team and I'm glad GC got to face a team with some big athletes. That's the area that concerned me the most for the Devils....and they showed tonight they can play against size no problem.

Richlands beats 7-2 Happy Valley, TN to win the Virginia High Tipoff tournament. Won by 30 in a surprisingly chippy game between the players and the fans. Richlands will get a test or two in the UVA-Wise tournament in a few weeks, but outside of that, Graham will probably be the only real challenge on their schedule.
Richlands will match up with Honaker again with a round 1 win in Wise tourney if I saw the right bracket, correct? But they will have a couple players that didn't play the first game at VHS. That first match up was a game of runs from the sound of it. Sounded like a good one.

No. They get the winner of George Wythe and the Mount Mission B Team in Wise. If they win that game, they would likely play Honaker in the Semifinal.
Richlands didn't have Lowe or Howie vs Honaker the first time, and they won't have them this time either. They've both left the team. Richlands stil has 11 varsity players on the team, and hey may call one or two up.
They play Grayson Co here in about 9 minutes.

Richlands beats Grayson Co. 73-57. Phillips with 24 to raise his scoring average to 22 a game. Herndon and C. Horn with hot nights from 3, posting 14 and 10 respectively. Ball ends with 8, but scores his 1,000th point. 5-0 on the year.
