Bruton’s boys basketball team kept its season alive with a resounding 94-51 win at home against Amelia in the first round of the Group 2A East tournament on Friday.
The Panthers jumped out to a quick in the first quarter, building a 23-11 advantage in the opening eight minutes of play. Bruton would not relinquish their lead over the final three quarters.
By halftime, Bruton had extended its lead to 40-20. After a third quarter in which Amelia outscored the Panthers by four points, Bruton dominated the fourth quarter by posting 31 points to end the game in style.
Bruton (17-5) will host Robert E. Lee in the quarterfinal round of the Group 2A East tournament on Tuesday.
