Seminole/Dogwood
8. Spotswood @1. Rustburg
5. Magna Vista @ 4. Staunton River
14. Northside @ 6. Heritage
10. Blacksburg@ 2. Brookville

I understand the bracket system currently used. However, if teams were scheduled based on seed it would be
14. Northside @ 1. Rustburg
10. Blacksburg @ 2. Brookville
8. Spotswood @ 4. Staunton River
6. Heritage @ 5. Magna Vista

Totally changes the round if the matchups were set by seed and alters two home teams. Just thought that was interesting

These are great games. This is a different Northside team than the one that played Heritage earlier this year. Blacksburg has speed to match Brookvile. The Trailblazers are making the two hour trip to play a very tough Rustburg. The Magna Vista at Staunton River game is going to be the best of the best. The Golden Eagles are putting up monster points, and the Warriors have proven to be one of the best in 3A.

Watched tape of Staunton River. They run the single wing as well as any I have seen. They remind me of JF last year. Not a great defense but enough to allow their offense to wear you down. The have a talented backfield and a very good line.
Magna Vista has the experience and the talent to hang with anyone but if Scales is out they could be in a rough night. The Warriors have a great coaching staff that will have them ready. This is the game and place to be for 3A west this week. Should be a great matchup

What kind of visitors stands does SR have? Will they hold 2000 fans. Is there any area you can bring additional seats to set up and watch the game from if bleachers are full?

I expect the Warriors to have a big night. Speed kills. St. River will finally meet a defense that can shut that single-wing down. From the way it looked in the paper, Western threw all over SR's defense (as I predicted) and we know MV will bring more to the fight than WA did.

I'm going to go bold. I think IT IS possible Overstreet gets smacked a couple of times early and folds up the tents, leading to a blowout. But even if that doesn't happen, Magna Vista by 2 scores. Magna Vista and Rustburg in the quarterfinals on one side and a rematch between Brookville and Heritage on the other.

SR's visitor stands are fine, but there isn't much, if any, room to bring seats.

I think the SR and MV matchup will be like last year. SR put up a lot of points on Western Albemarle just like last year. SR are coming into this game with MV capable of putting up a lot of points. But I think you have to be a dual threat team to beat MV, but I could be wrong! If Scales (#25) doesn't play for the warriors then it may be a long night for MV, but the MV coaches seem to get those kids ready play every week. SR does have the home crowd on there side, but I think MV by 2 scores.

MV had lots of talent the last two years . I don't think they have that kinda team this year I could be wrong . Should be a great game but I think SR by two TD's

This MV team reminds me of the team 3 years ago. Some sr talent but most of the talent is soph and jrs. They have played well this season, beat GW, lost 21-7 to Byrd and lead Dan River in the 2nd half before losing. SR will be tough to beat this year but i know that Coach Favero and his staff will have the boys ready to play. Most everyone thought last year that coming into the SR game that the Warriors didn't have a chance, and they may not this year, but they'll show up ready to play. Hope the Scales boys are ready to play, but if not,"next man up".

Heard from a good source Chris scales is done for the year. Im sure jason will be good to go. It will be interesting to see what the coaches draw up to replace that void.

That is a HUGE loss for mv not only offensively but defensively. You just can't replace that this time of year. Looking at SR stadium on google earth it looks like the visitor side is really small. Gonna be a lot of people standing.

I like Rustburgs odds better against MV anyways so hopefully the warriors can get the job done. Would love to see a Seminole showdown in the semis!

I believe they cross bracket the semifinal games. The highest seed from the east plays the lowest seed in the west and vice versa. For a Seminole district rematch you would have to wait until the finals.

Rustburg from LU 20 min Bville to LU 20 min what a shame got to go all the way to Williamsburg this year If both teams are fortunate enough to be in the finals . It would have been one heck of a crowd & atmosphere .

Very stupid decision on part of VHSL, to move games from LU to Williamsburg. LU is the best venue in the state for championship games..............in EVERY sport. LU is easy to reach from anywhere in state. Facilities are the best. Hotels and eating places close by. I hope VHSL loses $$$$$$ by moving the games.

They think LU is a dangerous place. Check crime stats within the state on college campuses. VCU where the VHSL basketball tournament is played, is the most dangerous campus in the state. Very high crime rate. Heck , LU is the safest campus in the state.

Mv not that type of team to be over at half. Only game i seen over at half was JF last year. They might struggle, but they still have JP and scales on the ends, and good linebackers, and good coaches.

Nah bro, VCU isn't the most dangerous...BELIEVE ME, I attend the school and walk this campus daily...Check out Radford and ODU, way more dangerous. But I agree, VERY VERY STUPID DECISION to move the games from Liberty. Was there last night for the VCU/Liberty game at the Vines Center. I think every state championship should be played at Liberty.

Was the decision to move the games because of the gun policy on campus?I'm asking because I had parents come to me about not bringing their kids to the Rec Championships thats being held at Liberty this weekend. We might change venue next year also if more parents speak out.

Gun policy but they blew that up and made a big deal . What they don't realizes a student can't have one less he's 21 of age or older and has concealed weapons permit. I doubt a kid of that age is still living on campus .

Everything nowadays is politics... I feel more safe at Liberty than I do if I was to have 3-4 bodyguards with me at all times. I was there the other night and the people are just so nice and courteous. Such a classy place and I love how Liberty is family and faith friendly. Seems like every time someone puts God into the equation then they get punished, IMHO. I probably won't support the state championship this year even if Magna Vista and/or Amherst is playing and Williamsburg is 35 miles down the road as opposed to the 100+ mile drive to Liberty.

Do what? You better bring your butt to Williamsburg. Don't make me come to Richmond and grab you by the ear and put you in my truck.

See, you can't win. If you resist and hit me, everybody says," you hit an old man"! If you don't fight back then everybody says, " you let an old man handle you like that"? So, make it easier on both of us and just show up at the games.

DP you and Bleeding Navy would jack me up lol I couldn't hurt a grape in a fruit fight LOL!! I'll more than likely go to the 5a and 6a games if I go. I bought tickets to the VCU/ODU game that night and I'm scared that 64 will be a pain in the backside going thru the tunnel. Usually from Yorktown to Mercury Blvd the traffic is really bad on Saturday's. I'll have my ole man with me so maybe he can nevigate us a way without hitting all of that traffic ;)

Moving the games from Lynchburg was total BS. It's a shame that Magna Vista will play for a title and have to drive past Lynchburg and their great facilities on their way to the state championship game.

Huh...you mean Staunton River. Did you see the pick'em boards. MV don't stand a chance! MV wouldn't go past Liberty or Lynchburg. They would take 58.

I will not go to Williamsburg no matter who plays down there. VHSL is bunch of whimps. LU best venue in state.

I will not go to Williamsburg either. It will probably be the lowest attended games ever for a state

Doubt it. Especially if Lafayette makes it to the 4A Final. Also Dinwiddie fans travel and in 3A Phoebus will have the home crowd there for the title game (no way they don't make it this year). This why I honestly wish they would just put Phoebus back in 5A because those teams aren't as spread out as these 3A teams are.

MV had more fans than Phoebus did at Phoebus last year and it was 5 hours to get there
Fans there do not have great fan support. That is why I believe they will find that having the state at Willamsburg will not make as much as they did at LU

Because no one in Phoebus community knew who MV was and thought it was no way Phoebus could lose...but Phoebus fans have become spoiled to the point they don't see a point in going to the games. I'll never forget 2011 when we won the 4th title in a row and the other team had like 1,000 more fans. Didn't make sense

I totally agree with you Plus, the facilities are not even close to comparable. I would take the LU field in a heartbeat. I wonder if they entertained using just two stadiums for all divisions....4,5,6 at UVA and 1,2,3 at Salem. It seems to be more logistic friendly since they are set on removing Liberty University from a championship site
