Because no one in Phoebus community knew who MV was and thought it was no way Phoebus could lose...but Phoebus fans have become spoiled to the point they don't see a point in going to the games. I'll never forget 2011 when we won the 4th title in a row and the other team had like 1,000 more fans. Didn't make sense

That was because South County who is a 6A school now always had a 6A size enrollment compared to Phoebus who even back then had a 3A enrollment. Phoebus had to petition VHSL every year to stay in Group AAA Div 5 because we were at risk of being dropped to Group AA. So in a sense it did make sense and South County had a great community that supported their school. Whereas Phoebus' community was split with Hampton HS, Kecoughtan HS and even Bethel HS.
