GW 20.1
Halifax 20.1
WA 20.1

Meck Co. 19.6
Blacksburg 15.1

Glass takes a slight lead but will need to win out to stay on top. Amherst hanging around in the top 4 for now although a brutal three games await them and while they're a playoff lock, their position could slide down a few spots. JF should be OK provided they at least beat Liberty-Bedford. Pulaski snuck into 7th place thanks to a win over Blacksburg but with Graham, PH, and Cburg awaiting and other teams turning a corner they'll be sweating this out the whole way unless they can take a W and ensure themselves a spot. I speculated awhile ago that the Cave Spring game was potentially their season, still think that loss ends up costing them this year.

Fascinating tie for the last spot right now. GW has quietly rattled off a nice little win streak but comes face to face with a Bassett squad whose only losses are to tough programs (Franklin County and LCA) and a MV squad who is nearly as tough (losses to those two plus Bassett). They will likely need an upset to stay in the mix for that last spot. Halifax, meanwhile, has pulled a reverse-GW and been on a big four game skid which has nearly dropped them from contention. However, the rough part of their schedule is mostly over with games against hapless Tunstall and nearly hapless Patrick County remaining as well as a chance for big points against Bassett. Halifax seems the most likely to slide into the playoffs and maybe even as a 7th seed. Western Albemarle is similar to Halifax, they have two likely wins against very bad teams (Fluvanna and Monticello) and a chance for points against a superior opponent (Orange).

If you played the odds, one would expect the top 6 to stay in, PC and GW to drop with Halifax and WA sliding up to take the last two spots but hey, that's why we play the games. Quite a bit of ball left to be played, an upset here or there by some of those lower teams could make things really interesting.

Martinsburg dropping another game and PH not beating Cave hurt Salem.

JV travels to Cave for a re-match of an instant classic from last year.

Salem only loss a point with Martinsburg losing. Martinsburg will win out so Salem will get 8 points for their wins. It doesn't matter who wins or loses in district play unless you lose to a district team. It all evens out. It's the Out of district games that really matter.

Pulaski Co has a great shot at beating Graham. The G-men might be without 10 starters bye to an incident

I see that now. Quite an incident, it would appear. Would love to know exactly what happened if someone can shoot me a PM or something. Wouldn't be something I'd bring to the boards, just to satisfy my curiosity. I have a feeling I can guess but confirmation would be nice.

On the subject, though, even Graham fans thought Virginia High would notch the win and they could not come close to stopping Graham. Should be quite the battle, game should fly by since both teams will probably combine for about six passes.

Wins by team in higher classification than you does not matter?

No, not after you play them.

For Salem: they get 22 points for a win over Cave Spring, and then 2 points for each of CS victories. So if CS ends at 5-5 Salem gets 22 for playing them, and 10 for their 5 wins for a total of 32. CS is 5-2 currently (so 32 points)

For PH, Salem gets 24 points for PH as a 5a school. And then 2 points for their number of wins. So PH being 5-2, that is 34 points.

If PH had beated CS, then it just takes 2 points from CS and adds them to PH

Thank you for the clarification. Any thoughts on the game Thursday?
Salem game is Fri this week, it's on Thurs next week. CS did a good job of stopping Pulaski's run game when I saw them play. I think Salem will be okay if they balance the run and the pass. Defensively, Salem needs to force TOD- they have been allowing too many sustained drives. I still think the OL/DL has a lot to improve on.

On 2a board they said it was a video posted online. Sounded like cursing and saying inappropriate things. No clue what though. Pulaski has a shot because of this. I think a full Graham team would easily win.

Some new tiktok trend -- some form of video posted which allegedly violates the school/county policies. As the other poster alluded to on the 2A board it says could carry some 10 day suspensions/referrals to the superintendent and school board to decide what is to come of it. They say the players will be back for the playoffs, but will be an interesting situation that unfolds in the mountainous region of the state.

Great opportunity to get some JV kids reps. Also the Varsity kids could lift more and condition.

Hey @mike salem, how come the Salem faithful are laying in the weeds like a snake ready to bite? In the old days the fellows like @southbottomU, @freeatlast2013, @Shabutie and @SpartanOfYore would be wearing preps out. Dang I miss those days.
It's been quiet on the board in general. There are so many things that can occupy a person's time, I guess this old website just isn't as active as we'd like it to be. I think Salem has a lot of potential, but they have some work to do to get there. Lineplay on both sides of the ball needs to improve. Might take some personnel tweaks to get a spark IDK. There's a couple guys on JV that might be able to help when their season is done in a few weeks.

I have it on good account that the Salem Mafia set up the Graham kid’s so Pulaski gets the W thus getting more power points. This occurred after Martinsburg lost for a second time.

It does not matter when a common district opponent beats them because Salem will still get the 2 points for Cave Spring beating PH if they beat Cave Spring. Salem will get points for playing PH and beating PH

ex) CS 20 +2 + 10 = 32 PH 24+10 = 34 Total points Salem would get is 66

Had PH won they would have 24 + 12 = 36 CS 20 +2 +8=30 Total pints Salem would get is 66

See it does not matter when teams lose to district opponents. Only hurts you when they lose to out of district play because you cant get that point back unless you play that team as well.

I didn't see this post before replying to him. I explained it a little different but we are saying the same thing.

Still here. Waiting to see if Salem improves line play. The Spartans may have the fastest team they have ever had, but defensive and offensive line play holding them back. 1moreHOKIE has described the Spartans quite well.
I am very impressed with Peyton Lewis. Don't know why he wouldn't be big time recruit.
