It's going to be interesting to see what takes place to keep Sherando in 4A over the next several years.

WINCHESTER — The Frederick County School Board approved a 2017-22 capital improvement plan (CIP) at a meeting Wednesday that could delay the opening of a proposed fourth high school and 12th elementary school.

The board voted 6-1 to approve the plan, with member Peggy Clark dissenting.

Under the new plan, construction of the fourth high school would begin in August 2017, with a July 2020 opening. The CIP lists a total cost of $89.5 million (based on a July estimate, with an assumed August 2019 opening).

By the time they get this thing built, every Frederick County school will be over the 4A limit. It's ridiculous, this school should be open right now, not in 2020. And let's be honest, it's not going to be finished by then either.

Disagree ... James Wood will never, never see 5A numbers ... but could see Millbrook hit the numbers with Sherando. All of the housing developments are in the Millbrook and Sherando zones.

They will find a way to redraw lines to keep them 4A or lower they made sure of that a couple years ago when they panicked that Sherando would be taken to the wood shed with those Loudoun schools
