When we announced that we would like to try to provide help to Mike Salem, the response was immediate. We wanted to make sure that Mike could afford to make the trip to the state championship game. The good folks on the forum never hesitated. You reached out with your offers of generosity before the information was hardly posted. Each of you know who you are. Most preferred to stay anonymous to the forum. So we will leave it at that.

But I want everyone to know, that in spite of the ruffled feathers on here from time to time, this forum is populated with a lot of truly wonderful folks. When all is said and done, we care about each other. After all, we are all bound by our common interest in high school football. I wasn't the least bit surprised by the response, but I was none the less moved to tears at how we all came together to help our good friend.

For those of us that had the privalage of spending a little time with Mike as we gathered to meet and greet, watching the smile on Mike's face was best part of an already terrific day. Mike got a little help, but all of us received a lot more.

I hope that those of you that have been hesitant to meet with other forum members when the opportunity presents, will be more open to putting a face to a name in the future. The new conversation feature is a great place to start. You get to share thoughts and opinions in private, and you usually find a new friend with a lot of common interest. You do have to be a paying member of Virginia Preps to take advantage of this feature, but it is money well spent.

Mike, I'm glad a day that started out good for you, ended even better. Our day did, too!

Thank you to everyone who helped get me to the game. I had a wonderful time, meeting new friends, seeing old friends, and watching the Spartans win State! I got to spend the day with my family and the evening celebrating with my Salem family. I am truly blessed beyond measure, and I still have a smile on my face from Saturday. Looking forward to spending time with family and friends for Christmas. I hope everyone will have a safe and Merry Christmas and a Happy new year!
