Louisadad, how is Coach Fischer doing? I hope his health is good. He has sure been a trooper over the years.

Just reading about a real game really stirs up feelings. I just can't wait until that first Friday night.

From the newspaper article, it looks like the atmosphere was great for the kids, and they really enjoyed the chance to hang out with each other. Those that criticize this event miss this real purpose, I'm afraid.

Not surprised by the score. This is almost always a defensive game. Not much time to get everyone on the same page offensively. Limited number of plays. Where as the defense usually stays standard 4/3 and is simply told to seek and destroy. Exactly what most of the guys want to hear.

It does lack Star power as most committed players do not come and and many are discouraged by their new schools to avoid risk of injury. It does, however, illustrate what happens when some of the best players in the State play one another. Stalemate. This is why it's the last game most of these guys will play. They are all All Stars. They are all very good. But amongst them all, only a few will standout at this level of competition. Those are your next level players.

It is a great week for all these young men. Enemy's become friends. Lot's of interaction and activities all day and night. It's not just practice all day. Practices and meetings are actually quite limited. The rest is fun and a nice reward all these players have earned. The VHSCA really do a good job with this.

Check out the block on #32 of the West squad on the interception. I think that will be called as an illegal block starting this year. Doesn't the wording specifically address a defenseless and/or unaware opponent?

Maybe. Depends on the field Ref's. Training and interpretation. to my way of thinking, if your head's not on a swivel in this situation to a legal block, that's the player's problem.
