Since the Sunday night NFL game is dull, 28-0 early in the 2nd (unless you have ole Aaron Rogers on your fantasy team ha....).

Does anyone think that there might be any upsets in 1A East during the 1st round, or will all the home teams win big? Rapp usually does well vs. the old Tri-Rivers and a 9 over 8 is fairly normal...

Let's say that all the home teams win, wow, there are some big possible 2nd round battles on the horizon. No disrespect to any, but just to look ahead and if the top seeds all win - Which 2nd round game appeals to you the most regardless of the team(s) that you pull for? (yes, I know one game at a time & all that but fans can look ahead...players can't.)

Sussex at Essex

Colonial Beach at Surry

Central at Altavista

Parry McCluer at W&L

Tough to choose from that list- Feel free to do the same for the Western teams.

I wouldn't be all that surprised if an upset occured in 3 out of those 4 second round matchups (should they pan out that way). I know looking ahead is dangerous though. Altavista dropping their second round matchup would be the only one that would surprise me, but you never know... 5 and 5 Hidden Valley shocked a lot of folks last year in 3A by making it to the 3rd round of the playoffs (beating spotswood and lord botetourt who had 2 losses combined in the regular season, and losing to heritage who went undefeated in the regular season and lost in the state semi finals), so there is sometimes a low seed that flies under the radar and catches people off guard.

I think you could see William Campbell pull the upset from earlier this season. WCHS has lost to Altavista, Dan River, Appomattox, Chatham and Central Lunenburg, all of which are in the playoffs. And in that first game, WCHS was tied in 14-14 in the fourth quarter. And then turnovers killed them. IF WCHS can not turn the ball over and not kill themselves with penalties (both of which they did in the loss) coupled with an improved passing game they showed on Friday night, they could win that game.

None in the first round. In the second round, I can see Colonial Beach beating Surry, possibly by a large margin. In the end, Essex and Altavista should sail through the regionals. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see a repeat of last year's championship.

The West has the better potential for upsets. There are some very good teams that got jobbed with their seeding. Galax and Radford come to mind.

The Franklin- Surry game certainly has the potential. Franklin had a rough start but has become much better the past few weeks. These 2 played a few weeks ago and it was 14-8 at half.

Franklin over Surry. Charles City at W&L very good game. Rapp at Sussex Rapp defense wins this one.
