Dan River showed some good strength last year and gave Appo a fit in the rain. Would have been great to have played them in better conditions, but such is the sport of football. With that being said what are your thoughts on the game this year? I do plan on going to ring gold friday night since Appo has a bye and see what Dan River may have this year. Hope to see some more Appo fans at the game as well.

Dan River has good o line but lost both backs from last year. Just kind of gauging how Tusntall had ball with 5 minutes to play trying to tie game Friday. Watched Gretna handle Tusntall pretty good week before and people on here talking about how bad Tusntall was this year. Although I know you cannot always go with common opponent games. Gretna and William Campbell are lurking low under the radars at 3-0 and could be the next under Appomattox in district.

DR is very predictable on every offensive play they call they in need of a coach
Not to be disrespectful to their program , but they have entirely tooooo many coaches. They have just as many coaches as players most years. Kids can't be focused on assignment football when you have a bunch of people yelling at them. I've noticed that for a while at Dan River. It was worse when the Edmunds boys were playing.

It is true that Dan River should be a powerhouse for the 2a level in football and basketball.. Dan River should have at least 3 state football and at least 5 -6 state basketball championships since the 2008/2009 school year. You tell me that they've had an NFL player and 3 NFL prospects and have zero to show for it??? Little league offense is an understatement. With all of those athletes, Dan River should avg 64 points a game on the 2a level for football... In better terms, they should be doing what Appo has been doing for the past 2 years and is still doing.. DOMINATE!!!!!

Dan River's QB was a transfer this year, wasn't he? Is he any better with the passing game? There are athletes there, but it looks like an off year down in Pittsylvania County.

He came from Chatham. Looked tough during the GW game but I personally think he's not a player to lead the team to elite status. If Dan River wants any shot to win, keep Fitzgerald at QB and go to work. DR's defense is pretty good but the offense is bad.

DR did not want to play in better conditions. Coach for DR refused to change that date to Saturday or Monday. They were playing in a swamp.

I really don't think they wanted them on dry ground Appo by 2 TD's on dry ground
I respect yalls opinion, but Dan River had its best team EVER last year. I think they shot themselves in the foot by not changing the game. Both teams were loaded but I think Dan River was the only team in 2a last year that could've beat Appomattox. Of course that did not happen, but hypothetically speaking.

In my opinion DR should and would have won state or would have came mighty close they had all the athletes they needed to do it but coaching I thought was 85 % the problem. If they didn't do it last year then no chance any time soon just saying
Yep! Even in the Appo game last year I was flabbergasted at the play calling and time management by Dan River. It was the worst I had ever seen. Then they give up a huge TD to Mitchell in the playoffs after essentially shutting him down all game. Should never had to come down to that. Dan River was 3-4 TDs better than Union.

Their secondary was not the best but should have beat Union by at least 2 TD's when appomattox hung what they did on them and shut them.out.I just thought they would have won that game.I know appomattox was a different caliber last year and what they did in the play off's were unreal like I read in a thread that's a who's who of 2A

I have only seen Dan River once, and that was a few years ago in first round playoff game. I believe Dan River was 9-1 And the 3 seed. I believe Stuarts Draft was 6-4 That year, and the 14 seed. Players and fans were talking so much before the game. I believe there was 2 Edmunds on the team, but anyway SD beat them by like 30+. I wasn't impressed

Yeah sounds like Dan River lol.. Dan River should've won like 4 straight state championships from 11-14. Dan River's 2013 team had 3 D1 players on D (both Edmunds and Fitz who plays at Cincinnati). I think they lost to Buckingham twice, Stuart's Draft, and Riverheads??? They will probably never ever win a state championship in foitball. Gretna looks to be Pittsylvania County's top dog again and probably will for the next 3-4 years.

If i remember correctly, and I may not be, but pretty sure that was year we beat them bad as 14 seed, next week we had to go to union and won a close game (they were like 11 seed), and then next game was at Wilson who had beaten SD pretty bad in regular season and we lost right at end. That must have been year Glenvar and Wilson played in championship.

If i am correct, Dan River had lost 1 game that year, then Stuarts Draft in playoffs so no on Riverheads. Not sure Dan River has played Riverheads.

2011 they lost to Wilson Memorial
2012 they lost to Stuart's Draft
2013 and 2014 they lost to Buckingham
2015 they lost to Appomattox
2016 they lost to Union

You are correct on both. They were 9-1 when y'all beat them in 2012 and Dan River didn't play Riverheads.. Gretna played Riverheads in 2011 and DR played WM.

Tremaine Edmunds is #20 on Mel Kiper's big board as of this morning
