Bengal coach Brandon Johnson, is my pick for Piedmont District coach of the year. This young man is the real deal, he cares for the young men he coaches.He is a firey competitor, a knowledgeable teacher of the game and an excellent motivator. He is “All In” and his team has responded under his leadership. I coached JV at Bassett when he played and coached with him at Magna Vista, he has my respect and admiration. Well done coach, from one old Bengal to another.

I agree with everything you just mentioned about Coach Johnson...a true class act and excellent motivator, coach, and mentor! But I have to give a nod to Martinsville coach who barely has enough kids to dress out but still finds a way to motivate his kids to be competitive in every game they've played except last night against MV but basically had only a JV squad to work with in that matchup.
Johnson will put the Bassett program firmly back into the playoff picture and he has definitely put in hard work to make strides from where they were 2 years ago! Really miss Johnson at MV but his wings were ready to take his own program and stamp his name on it!
Congrats to other schools for making strides also this year in the piedmont such as Franklin County, Patrick County, and Halifax.
