This is the weirdest year I have ever seen in the battlefield dist this year! Every team but Eastern View and Spotsy is 0 and 2 in the district! Is the district this year that weak? Who knows but the big teams year in and year out are getting clobbered! Looks like Eastern View is going to walk away with the district title unless something changes but it's early! Let's see how the district shakes down after week two?
#1 Eastern View 2 @ 0: By far the cyclones are the top of the district. They beat Turner Ashby easy Friday QB Matt Lowery passed for over 200 yards and 4 TD's along with the backs rushing for 350 yards do I need to say anything more?
# 2 Courtland 0@2: yes we have a 0@2 team in second! Let's look at the cougars! They rushed for 3 times more yards than liberty and really dominated the game but 3 turnovers and mistakes really hurt them. I saw them scrimmage mountain view and they have a much better team than their record. They might be 0@3 after this week as they play a tough 2@0 Stafford! Don't worry cougar fans the cougars have been there and done that as a few years ago they started off 0@4 but won the district! Courtland is a good football team and will do good in the district play! Remember they have had a lot of success against EV in the past!
# 3 JM 0@2: the jackets are another team that will get it together soon! Serbay is getting his players suited for their positions! They too will be tough in the district. AJ Johnson rushed for 185 yards in a losing effort. Watched the game on TV and looks like their weakness in on the defensive side of the ball! Gave up a lot of yardage to Cville Friday but they will get it together!
#4 KG 0@2: This was our TV game this weekend and the Foxes ran into a good Brooke Point team and last week got beat by a good Tuscarora team so a tough schedule they have played.They have a huge team in numbers and a offensive line NFL size and they have some good athletes and will get it together and get untracked in dist play! From what I have seen in a scrimmage and last week's game they seem to have trouble with speed!
#5 Spotsylvania 2@ 0: I had half a mind to move the knights up a notch but we have to realize they haven't played two of the best teams in the state in Colonial Beach and Fluvanna but who cares. The knights in the past had trouble beating teams of any good! They had never won two in a row since 2002 Tim Coleman's last year! Had a chance to watch them as our TV game was Thursday night and they are now we'll coached and coach Jack is getting the most out of what talent he has. I knew he could do it as he did the same at Colonial Beach with very few players to pick from! They have a bye this week and play Orange next and if they can pull that one out up the ladder I will post them! if they had only hired Jack when he applied 5 years ago this program would not be in the shape it's in! Keep on keeping on boys from post oak you are finally a respectible team and growing confidence!
#6 Caroline 0@2: The Cavs was getting blasted by a good Patrick Henry team out of Ashland in the fourth quarter as I post this and they too have had a tough schedule but they need to get in the district and win a few games! It's time for Caroline to step up! This is Coach yeates 4th year and he needs to start winning as his program is now set in place!
#7 Chancellor 0@2: The chargers struggling against a world beating Louisa team was expected even though the Lions was playing without some starters! Some good news for the chargers QB Hunter Kozlow will be able to play next week as his arm injury was not as bad as first thought. Still graduation and transfers have done in Chancellor!
That's this week's rankings! No changes in positions but let's see what this week brings. Get out and watch your favorite HS team because HS football is the best sport going!
