Im sure this thread won't get much traction given that there are not that may commenters on here from Pulaski County but, I think that this is something that should be discussed within the county.

Two previous coaches meeting in the state championship (Todd Jones & Stephen James) should cause the county and those in power there to ask;
"What is the problem here?" & "Why didn't they have success here?"

There are some that don't even acknowledge the time that Jones spent as coach, they were too busy trying to run him out of town. James stepped down but I don't know if he was forced out or if he left on his own.

Either way these two coaches finding success after leaving Pulaski Co shows that they are actually good coaches, despite what many thought of them while they were in Pulaski.

Kids. They have not had kids committed to the program in a long time. There are 1a and 2a teams with bigger sidelines than Pulaski. Pulaski is 4 or 5 years out, and that is up in the air if the kids gets get to high school and specialize in disc or shot put.

What years were each of them there?

Todd beat Salem in 2010 and then played them tough every year. Almost upset them in playoffs at Salem Stadium in 2012 when Salem was 10-0. Salem won by the skin of their teeth 17-14. Ran a mean wing t concept

Pulaski was never the same after legendary Joel Hicks left in 2002. Pulaski's problem had been internal. A fanbase and administration and some in boosters that just refuse to let the coaches coach, and absolutely have to insert themselves. This is not all or anywhere close to the majority who have ruined their program, but there are enough of them in power to spoil it. They've done exactly that for the last 22 years.

Pulaski County has been "3 to 5" years away from being great against since 2004. They are more like 30 to 50 years away. Remember the great Mark Dixon from Galax and his success. He goes to Pulaski and even he struggles there. That's 3 former PC coaches since 2010 that have played for or won a state title either prior to, or after PC. What does that say about the coaches? What does it say about PC internally? It's overwhelmingly clear its not the former coaches or a "run of bad coaches." It's completely PC as the problem.

Pulaski also spent the last twenty years shrinking. They're where they belong now in C3. Minus LCA, who will not always be as good as they've been these past few years, C and D in C3 are pretty open on a regular basis. There's room for Pulaski to step up and make noise.

The other side of the coin is that it may just continue as it does and with a wider perspective the Hicks era is seen as the anomaly. It wouldn't be the first team this happens to where they enjoy a HoF HC for an extended period of time and the rest of their years are simply not as lofty. A lot of programs don't survive that transition. Stone Bridge is on that journey right now, for instance.

I'm pulling for Essex. It would be a fitting end and some closure for the family after last yrs game.

I'll always pull for Todd Jones. A good guy who deserves all the good things that come his way. He did not get a fair shake in Pulaski in my opinion. Mark my word, he will finish in the top 10 all-time in the history of the state in wins.
