The teams got underway after most teams had a bye last week. really no changes in the standings but now it looks like JM and Chancellor seem to be getting better. this season will come down to the big three and any of those three could come out on top. here we go with my picks!
# 1 COURTLAND 4 @ 1: Still believe the cougars are still the best right now! the three headed monsters are rushing over everyone. Lawson continues to be impressive and wellborn to Allen is very deadly to teams and throw in Grant the cougars may have one of the best offenses in the state. their defense has given up quite a few points but they may have come on their subs moping up in blowouts.
they beat up on a pretty good Liberty team last week 54 to 20.
# 2 JM 4@ 1: Just got home tonight watching JM beat up on a good Essex team. boy was the jackets impressive and now adding another head ache to the rest of the district a good passing game. seems funny to say added a passing attack to their repertoire, but this years team in the first 4 games seemed to be a rush heavy team but now after tonight they seem to be able to pass as good as they run. bad news for the other district teams but Felton really looked good throwing to his brother and the other gifted receivers. also their defense also looked good only giving up 6 points to a good Essex team. this JM team is just a tad behind courtland but they are closing in fast.
# 3 CHANCELLOR 4@ 1: The chargers had a very easy time with a very average James River team 42 to 7! Jason Brown continued to impress with his rushing and passing. IMO he is one of the best qb in the district area and state! Wisdom continues to run well and the chargers are a hair behind Courtland and JM.
# 4 KING GEORGE 2 @ 3: Foxes had a bye this week after the beat I C Norcum in overtime! foxes still have some issues but still are a good team! their defense has some holes to fill but their offense still is able to score on people!
# 5 SPOTSYLVANIA 2@ 3: Big win for my boys from post oak this week as they rushed for 486 yards and three 100 yard rushers! when is the last time spotsy had three backs over 100 yards in a game! the presence of legendary coach Tim Coleman was evident in all that rushing yards as the knights continue to improve! no W@ L is not the packers of the 60's but its good to see spotsy beating teams that they should beat! very little speed or talent but their heart and desire is second to none! good luck spotsy! I'm proud of you.
# 6 CAROLINE 0 @ 5: thought the cavaliers had a chance to beat King William but it didn't happen! all year long their offense was good enough to win but their defense can't stop anyone. King William beat Caroline 35 to 7 and this game was disappointing to me as I thought the cavaliers had a chance. looks like now their next chance will be when they play Spotsylvania in a few weeks!
there we go the season is half over and the playoffs are around the corner! the top three are far and above the bottom teams but still a long way to go! going to be a barn burner in the end of this season between the big three so get out and catch a game this week! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
