Well the season is winding down and in the District we have two teams EV and Courtland in a class of their own and two on the up swing JM and Chancellor! Lets take at this weeks rankings IMO.
( 1) Eastern view: 6 @ 0 No surprise hear with no contest with Spotsy Friday night. Very few if any weaknesses and should make a deep run in the playoffs.Only problem they might have in the playoffs is trying to turn their play up a notch as the run through the rest of the district playing with about 80 percent effort and demolishing their district opponents left on the schedule.
(2 ) Courtland :3 @ 2 Had a little trouble with a improving Chancellor team Friday but was really never threatened! Zin White had a terrific night with over 200 yards but are not getting a lot out of their other two backs! Should win out with only a slight challenge from JM.
( 3) Chancellor: 2 @ 3 The Chargers stay here at third place as they stuck with the Cougars Friday but in the end just didn't have enough horses to close the game out.Good young back in Scott with 156 yards against Courtland so keep your eyes on this team. Possible a playoff team.
(4) JM : 2 @ 4 Another team to look out for. They have a offense that can score on anyone. Their only question is their defense and after Friday against KG looks like they finally have the defense starting to click. I knew with that good coaching staff they would fix the defense so lets see if the fix started friday.
( 5) Spotsy 2 @ 3 Can't hold that big loss against the knights because EV is probably score 60 or more against the rest of the district. One thing positive about the loss was the knights offense scored more points on EV defense than anyone they have played. Thats a small thing to look at in the huge loss but look for the boys from post oak to bounce back against a team that they have a chance with Friday in Caroline. Don't count Caroline a sure win as if Spotsy makes mistakes they are not good enough yet to beat teams.
( 6 ) King George 1 @ 5 Looked for the foxes to have a better showing against JM but it didnt happen. Thought playing a tough opening schedule would help them but they still seem to be a team that don't quite have it together yet. Other that Courtland and EV on their schedule they should have a decent chance to turn things around.
( 7 ) Caroline 1 @ 4 I know Caroline can't wait Friday as they take on Spotsy and a chance to win. This could be a turning point in their season as coach Doug Allison tries to build this ailing program. They have a chance but unless Spotsy has turnovers it wont be easy.
Here we go as the season is half over and we will start playoff talks in the next few weeks. One thing we need to understand is teams 3 through 7 are very young teams and will be much more competitive with the top teams in the next couple years.
