Benedictine scored touchdowns on their first seven possessions and cruised to a 49-13 win over defending D2 champion Bishop Sullivan to improve to 1-1. The Cadets finished with 362 yards of offense with all but 45 of that total coming in the first half.

Duke University recruit Scott Bracey had two rushing and one passing touchdown while Ramon Jones reached the endzone on two rushing touchdowns. Bracey scored the first touchdown of the game on a 43-yard run on 4th-and-14 to give Benedictine a 7-0 lead. Moments later, the Cadets took over possession at the Crusaders 35-yard line after a K'Jon Coley recovered a fumble on a pooch kickoff. Ramon Jones scored the first of his two touchdowns from 4-yards out for a 14-0 lead with 5:40 to go in the 1st quarter.

On Benedictine's next series, Bracey drew deep to Donaven Tennyson for a 52-yard touchdown strike just before the end of the 1st quarter. Bracey finished the game with 99 yards rushing and 91 yards passing. Tennyson finished with two receptions for 55 yards and he also returned a kickoff 62 yards to setup a another touchdown run by Jones.

The entire second half was played with a running clock because of the mercy rule. Bishop Sullivan had a chance to pull within 30 after a reception by George Wahee gave the Crusaders a 1st and goal from the 8-yard line. However, the Crusaders couldn't reach the endzone with Benedictine's Thomas Dunn forcing a fumble on 4th down to keep the clock running.

Benedictine held All-State quarterback Blake LaRussa in check by blitzing on every down. Thomas Dunn was the defensive star with eight solo tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble, and 4.5 tackles for loss. Mikey McDonald and Ian Williams also had a sack. Bishop Sullivan linebacker Darius Whitehurst seemed to be in on every tackle finishing with 11 solo tackles and a sack.

The Crusaders did show glimpses of the their high octane offense. LaRussa did connect with Wahee for touchdowns of 79 and 80 yards. Wahee beat his defender for a 80-yard touchdown then turned a bubble screen into a 79-yard touchdown reception. He finished with 202 yard receiving on three receptions while adding 76 return yards and an interception.
