Benedictine scored a touchdown on each of their first five possessions leading to a 42-0 rout of #4 seed Saint John Paul the Great. The win moves the Cadets into the State championship game where they will try to win back-to-back titles.
The Cadets struck quickly scoring with only 29 seconds elapsed off the clock on a 53-yard touchdown pass from Scott Bracey to Donaven Tennyson resulting in a 7-0 lead. Tennyson also hooked up with Jake Waldrop for a 57-yard completion late in the second quarter and the Vanderbilt commit finished the day with 3 receptions for 124 yards and two touchdowns.
Waldrop added a 16-yard run to give Benedictine a 21-0 lead with 46 seconds left in the 1st quarter. His run came a few minutes before Alex Williams ended a 10 play 85-yard drive with a 5-yard touchdown run. Scott Bracey found Anthony Roberson for a 17-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter and Sylveste Mayers scored the only points of the second half with a 43-yard run. Kicker Will Pittman converted all six of his extra points.
Bracey accounted for 239 yards of offense. He led the Cadets with 81 yards rushing on 10 carries and he was 10 of 12 passing for 158 yards and two touchdowns.
The Cadets defense limited Saint John Paul Jones the Great to only 102 total yards while forcing four turnovers. Junior cornerback Dean Ngendakuriyo picked off two passes and linebacker Ellis Brooks was credited with six tackles.
