Abingdon had a chance to tie the contest with three seconds left on the clock but missed both free-throw attempts, preserving Central’s 74-72 win.

The Warriors (15-7, 9-3) clinched the No. 2 seed in next week’s Mountain 7 District tournament. Isaiah McAmis led the scoring for Central with 24 points, Dalton Mullins had 16 and Tyler Vanover finished with 14.

Abingdon (9-13) got 25 points from Jacob Bowles and 24 more from Ean Bassham.
 
Wise Central 74, Abingdon 72

Isaiah McAmis scored 24 points as the Wise County Central Warriors edged Abingdon and clinched the second seed in next week’s Mountain 7 District tournament.

Dalton Mullins (16 points) and Tyler Vanover (14 points) also played well for Central, which overcame a 45-40 halftime deficit.


Jacob Bowles led Abingdon with 25 points, while Ean Bassham scored 24 points in the loss.
