Game Recap Briar Woods Reaches 5A Title Game

Briar Woods will play for their 1st VHSL State baseball championship after reaching the 5A title game with a 6-1 win over the Menchville Monarchs. They will face Halifax County in a rematch of the Region championship.

The Falcons scored three runs in the second inning and added three more insurance runs in the 5th and 6th innings. St Bonaventure commit Ty Germanowski had a 2-run double in the 3rd inning. They extended the lead after loading the bases in the 5th inning. Rosales started the inning with a double and Wilson Ayers singled with no outs. Patrick Dengler hit a sacrifice fly to center and Sean Clark scored on an error at 1st base. The final run was also scored with the help of an error.

Rosales finished 3 of 4 from the plate as did Alex Bjornsen who had an RBI. Germanowski went 2 for 3 with two RBI and a run scored.

Junior Wilson Ayers got into some trouble in the 6th but got the win after allowing only one run on four hits. He struckout seven before giving way to Jack Jaekle who earn the save after recording four outs.
