You wouldn't happen to have an address to send flowers would you? I thought alot of Coach Gill, and I am too far away to pay my respects

I'm pretty sure there will be and I'll update it when I find out. I think his funeral will be in North Carolina but we will probably also have a memorial service for him in Buckingham. He fought hard the last 3 years and the suffering is over for him. Thanks reg b.

Hey guys, dads service is going to be Monday at 1 PM in his hometown of Durham NC.
The service will be at Hudson Funeral Home:
211 S Miami Blvd
Durham NC 27703

Anyone is welcome to come!

We are going to do a memorial in Buckingham very soon as well. Not sure of the date yet but I will def let everyone know.

Dad loved Buckingham and the people. We all knew when he had to step down a few months back it probably wasn't going to be long as those kids and that school was his life.

Will keep you guys posted!

We here in the Prince Edward community are sad to hear of Coach Gill's passing. He was a first class coach and will be deeply missed. Though we were rivals on the field, he was always well respected by all in this community. God bless

We are saddened to hear of your father's passing! Our thoughts and prayers are with your family! The football community lost a GREAT coach today and the Buckingham community lost a GREAT mentor for their young men. Your father left a legacy that can only be looked up to.

st8man02 I am honored to say I had the privilege to play and be taught by your dad. He changed us as a community, he touched each and every one of in his own special way. I played for him in 96 and its practices, games, classroom and out side of memories that I'll never forget. The way he walked the way he talked and everyone of us have a story of when we pissed him off lol! 1st day of practice in 96 he didn't know any of us and the 1st thing he said to us was we're his family and he's gonna give each of us his all and at the end of that practice he said I love y'all boys. He had a way getting everyones attention and it felt good to play for him each any day. He touch my family, he sent the 1st person in our family to college and he made this generation of kids understand that it was cool to go to school. I can go on for ever but I just wanna thank you and your family for giving us the opportunity to know your dad. He will never leave our hearts our minds and his presence will always be with us. Thank you my heart goes out to you guys and we love y'all. Go Knights!!!

Appomattox Coach Smith words from his Facebook account in reference to Coach Gill.

"Coach Gill became my friend four years ago when I came to Appomattox County High School. I had heard about how much he cared for his players even before meeting him. Twice he accepted an invitation to put his team in our weight lifting competition and 7v7 tournaments. I really enjoyed our on and off the field conversations. My most memorable conversation with Coach Gill was at our last weight lifting competition when he told me he had accepted Jesus Christ as his savior and it had made the biggest difference in his life. He told me how awesome and free he felt and how he so enjoyed sharing his testimony where ever he would go. You could see Christ working in his life. I will miss seeing him and having these conversations about our Lord and Savior. The great thing I think about now is how today he is in heaven with no more pain...running on streets of gold! I will never see a Buckingham team or player without thinking of Coach Gill and all he meant to them. I will always remember the way Coach Gill thought enough of me to share his personal life. I thank him for what he did for the sport of football and how he greatly impacted his players over the years. The Raider Family will continue to pray for Coach Gill's family and friends! Thank you Coach Gill. Sincerely, Coach Doug Smith and Appomattox Raiders. Go Knights!"
