C and D power points week 6

The points system is becoming a joke. One day the VHSL might realize if you're gonna play, you might need a bus. Travel is a necessity in Virginia.

Not sure about other school districts, but in swva, the school systems can't afford to send buses to all the games, Boosters are paying bus trips. Some bands aren't getting to travel to even short trips unless they pay for the trip. Playing teams nearby is a necessity, not a choice. Until Virginia starts funding schools the way they should, it will continue to be a struggle for the poorer communities. Budgets have been cut to the bare bone. Rumor in my county is 4 schools closing their doors next year and more to come soon after.

I cant say but so much. I was the only Appo fan on here for a few years and I guess that why i felt my back was against the wall with many of yall back in 2015. now there are several Appo fans up in here. Im sure they will dwindle away when we start losing again. I guess that is how this message board thing goes. I havent read a post from Ryan all season.

Ryan posts on here some...I've saw his posts here....but he mainly posts on the swva board

I’m still here. A myriad of factors have lead to my decreased presence over here.

I got married in July. I’m also a senior at VT. So thing to juggle married like plus my senior year at my university, it takes a lot of my time.

I’m also the color analyst for Blacksburg football broadcasts this full season. So I’ve actually seen Richlands twice with my own eyes this season. I do know they possess the hardest schedule in 2A, and coupled with a step back in talent (that’s going to happen when you lose what Richlands did), this season is a lot like I imagined. I had originally said 7-3. 6-4 is the current ceiling. Richlands can win any of their last 5 games, so I’m not worried about them missing the playoffs. But we don’t have an offense this year to compete. Defense is good, but they get tired after the offfense can’t score.

I do post more often on SWVA Sports. That’s my “home.” I’ve been posting over there since 2004, so I tend to look there before here. I’ve also started a podcast dedicated to high school sports West of Radford, so that takes up a large portion of my time as well.

So I’m still here. Just not around as much as I was the past two years. Just too many hands in too many cookie jars.

Marion finishes with Richlands, Virginia, and Graham. Marion will finish no better than 8-2. 2 of those 3 are losses, and maybe all 3 are losses. Richlands will beat Marion and Graham will easily beat Marion. Marion and Virginia will be a toss up type of game.

Union and Graham will be the winner of that region with it coming down to one game in my opinion. Graham will win out. Marion, Fort Chiswell, and Virginia aren't beating them and Graham will finish 9-1.
Union, if they go 10-0, Union wins the region. Union has 1 team remaining on its schedule that can beat them and that is Abingdon. Union will travel to Abingdon in late October. If Union loses, Graham will win that region. If Union wins that game, Union wins that region. Virginia is much better this year. Marion is much better this year. Ridgeview is very good, but these 3 ain't winning that region. Like I told you.....2 teams....Union and Graham, and it comes down to one game....Union and Abingdon. If Union wins that game, they finish 10-0 and win the region. If Union loses that game, they finish 9-1 and Graham will finish 9-1 and outpoint Union to win the region.

You are aware that regardless of the points at the end of the season no one will have “won” the region at that point. There’s playoffs that happen after the season.

Graham still has Richlands left on 10/20. You calling that a graham win too?

Until Virginia starts funding schools the way they should, it will continue to be a struggle for the poorer communities. Budgets have been cut to the bare bone.

Until people in inner cities choose to go to work, stop doing drugs, and receiving Medicaid at rates alarmingly high and growing, and eating up not just the Virginia State budget, but the federal government budget, you will continue to see funding for education in nearly all states continue to decline. You will see funding decrease in nearly ALL state programs across the country by in large as Medicaid is a run-away beast and nightmare that the country chooses to not address due to fears of losing voters or fears of being labeled as "not caring about the poor," or the old classic winner that always gets everyone's attention, "racist." LOL. My friend, morality effects work ethic and work ethic and life decisions decide whether or not someone is eligible for Medicaid. It alone, will effect nearly every aspect of your life within 10 years, to include traditions like high school football bands traveling. <-----just the facts, but it will only get worse. It's the reason you no longer see pension retirements. It's the reason education scholarships are slowly becoming a thing of the past. It's the reason your dollar doesn't purchase or have the weight it used to, and it's the reason your healthcare bill is alarmingly increasing far before 2008. That train was in motion in the 90's and hasn't slowed down. Medicaid is the backbreaking monetary issue of this country, and yes, it is the largest factor the state of Virginia isn't funding the education system like it used to. It simply doesn't have the money to provide the education system because the federal government has a primary rule in place and that is....."Medicaid" gets funded first in your state budget, and if you don't do that, you pay massive penalties. What is a state supposed to do? In order to avoid losing even more money, they pay Medicaid first and think of a state budget like a giant pie. When you have a piece of that pie which is growing and growing and growing, the other pieces obviously can't be or stay the same size. With the above said, it's not just inner cities guilty of this, it is also rural areas and even suburban areas. It happens in all locations, but yes, the inner cities are in fact-a statistical fact, the highest culprit of abuses of the Medicaid system.

I don't disagree. It's a shame that our schools, pilice and fire get cut, while those who choose not to work or become addicted on drugs continue to reap more and more "benefits". On a lighter note, G men are looking good!! They have huge potential.

The title of this thread is about points, and who comes out as the point winner is considered the "region winner by fans." You know very well what I'm referring to, and I will repeat, it's Graham and Union neck and neck in that region, and the game to decide it will be Union at Abingdon. As for Richlands and Graham, as I told you on this board in August, Graham will beat Richlands this year. As I told you again a couple of posts ago in this thread, Graham will finish 9-1, that means....they beat Richlands. Again, If Union beats Abingdon, they are first in the points system for that region, and if they lose to Abingdon, Graham will finish 1st. The Union at Abingdon game will decide it. Call them what you want to call them, Region Title, Region Winner, no region winner, who cares. Nobody. What people care about is.....who gets the highest seed and that's the point I'm making, and it's also the point that you knew I was making.

Most people care if their team makes it through the regional rounds of playoffs to the semis, not their seeding.

Not entirely true. You don't want to go on the road in the playoffs until you are made to and seeding determines that
