To me, CF was the better team. Although the score stayed close most of the game, CF never panicked or looked out of control, even when Patriot led to start the game. CF dominated in the running game the entire way, while Patriot's was nonexistent, and Patriot was forced to go one dimensional for most of the game. On the flip, CF couldn't stop big plays in the Patriot passing game, with Sarratt"s absence glaring in the secondary; but that will improve drastically with his play and leadership (coached on the sideline last night). CF did force a crucial turnover after a Patriot reception (strip) that pretty much sealed it. Patriot's QB can sling it, and has the receivers both long, tall, and fast, as well as the smaller speedsters on the outside and in the slot who can go get it and produce a lot of YAC, and will be a nightmare for most defenses as the season goes. I think it benefited CF greatly to get them early as they will gel even more as the season goes. CF front seven though is on point; nothing was happening there for the Patriot running game. CF QB Lowe, besides the one interception on the first drive of the game, got rid of the gitters early and showed that he's all of the dual threat QB a lot of people talk about, is very decisive, and plays with a chip on his shoulder. Patriot could not stop the Forge offense even with Sarratt off the field, especially the running game (Ernesto Bowen). It will be interesting to see how teams defend this offense as it opens up even more with Sarratt on the field (and with the addition of Chancellor transfer standout Josiah Jones), there are weapons everywhere. And the quick short passing game for which Lowe is really good stifled Patriot; a new wrinkle that Garwood seemed to have had a challenge consistently implementing. And as Lowe showed on one play, he'll pull it down quickly if needed; scampered 15 or 20 yds through traffic for a TD. CF still had more than enough playmakers on OF to do the job. I think CF tightens up the secondary starting next week with two-way Sarratt playing at safety and will make things interesting going forward.
