It was 37-35 with just under 6 minutes left when Patriot gave up a 3rd and long for the first down. Patriots demeanor changed and gave up a TD shortly after. CF scored a garbage TD late after Patriot gave it up on downs at their own 20. CF also blocked a punt for a TD.

There wasn't much difference between the two teams.

Better write up tomorrow.

This surprised me, thought CF would have disposed of them easier. First game though so it doesn’t mean much in the grand scheme of things. We already know CF is a MAJOR player in a loaded class 6 field. I think it maybe the most loaded class 6 field in recent memory

To me, CF was the better team. Although the score stayed close most of the game, CF never panicked or looked out of control, even when Patriot led to start the game. CF dominated in the running game the entire way, while Patriot's was nonexistent, and Patriot was forced to go one dimensional for most of the game. On the flip, CF couldn't stop big plays in the Patriot passing game, with Sarratt"s absence glaring in the secondary; but that will improve drastically with his play and leadership (coached on the sideline last night). CF did force a crucial turnover after a Patriot reception (strip) that pretty much sealed it. Patriot's QB can sling it, and has the receivers both long, tall, and fast, as well as the smaller speedsters on the outside and in the slot who can go get it and produce a lot of YAC, and will be a nightmare for most defenses as the season goes. I think it benefited CF greatly to get them early as they will gel even more as the season goes. CF front seven though is on point; nothing was happening there for the Patriot running game. CF QB Lowe, besides the one interception on the first drive of the game, got rid of the gitters early and showed that he's all of the dual threat QB a lot of people talk about, is very decisive, and plays with a chip on his shoulder. Patriot could not stop the Forge offense even with Sarratt off the field, especially the running game (Ernesto Bowen). It will be interesting to see how teams defend this offense as it opens up even more with Sarratt on the field (and with the addition of Chancellor transfer standout Josiah Jones), there are weapons everywhere. And the quick short passing game for which Lowe is really good stifled Patriot; a new wrinkle that Garwood seemed to have had a challenge consistently implementing. And as Lowe showed on one play, he'll pull it down quickly if needed; scampered 15 or 20 yds through traffic for a TD. CF still had more than enough playmakers on OF to do the job. I think CF tightens up the secondary starting next week with two-way Sarratt playing at safety and will make things interesting going forward.

I’m not surprised here at all. Patriot is an up and coming program. Each year they get better. Coach Bicknell has had the opportunity to start this program and they are becoming legit

Patriot played a good chunk with their starting safety out, to include their two starting corners. Which caused them to be down to their third RB. They switched up some starting WR's to defense to fill the gaps. Luckily they are fairly deep in the skill positions.

The one thing that bothers me, and most of the fans, is the HC's complete fear of kicking the ball deep. He did it last year too. They either purposely kicked out of bounds, pooched, or tried an inside kick every damn time.

CF started each drive between their own 35 midfield. They are way too good to keep handing over field position. They have kids who can kick it deep. They just choose not to. I will never understand that line of thinking to do it on every kick.

Patriot will be there competing at the end of the season. They should be able to compete with anybody. They have two games then their bye before the home game against Westfield. Hopefully they get healthy by then.
