Wendall Davis returned the opening kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown and the Benedictine Cadets cruised to a 48-0 win over bishop Sullivan. It was a dominant performance by the #1 ranked Private school team in the latest Virginiapreps rankings.

Davis scored the games 1st two touchdowns adding a short touchdown reception from Duke commit Scott Bracey [pictured below] with 5:30 to go in the 1st quarter for a 14-0 lead. Bracey added a 9-yard run for a touchdown a minute later after a turnover to extend the lead to 20-0. He also had a 36-yard touchdown run with under two minutes to go in the half and finished the game with 3 carries for 47 yards and two scores.

Senior Justin Smith ended the 1st quarter scoring with a 62-yard touchdown reception from backup quarterback Jake Waldrop and on the Cadets next possession junior James Pinder powered in from 5-yards out. Waldrop completed both of his attempts for 79 yards.

A Graham Flinn punt return led to the final score of the game. Sophomore Deontre Logan carried five straight times scoring on a 2-yard plunge with 1:40 remaining on a running clock.

The Benedictine defense pitched a shutout while limiting the Crusaders to 39 yards of offense. Bishop Sullivan quarterback Bobby Price to three completions and 47 yards passing. The special teams unit received a block punt from Tristan Murrin that led to the second touchdown. Murrin also led the team in rushing with 57 yards.

Bishop Sullivan wasn't able to follow up their impressive win over Collegiate School. For the Crusaders, it was simply a case of too many missed tackles and too many missed assignments. After facing three tough D1 schools to open the season, the Crusaders will get the week off before facing TCIS rival Nansemond-Suffolk.
