Here is something to think about... Which would you prefer as a fan? Over let's say a ten year period... Would you prefer to win a state title and struggle to make playoffs year after year or have sustained success during those ten years, making the playoffs, deep runs and contending but never winning the state title?

I personally would say sustained success is what draws us fans in year after year, with the "hope" of winning the elusive State Title! I LIVED IT! As a lifetime Springer fan from the early 70's, Highland Springs was good year in and year out!! Making it all the way to the title game several times only to lose a close one! It's heartbreaking to say the least. You keep coming back in hopes of finally getting the glory of actually winning it all!
From 1971 to 2015, I spent a whole lot of cheers and disappointments following many teams finishing 10-0, 9-1, 8-2, 8-0-2 (when we still had ties) . 4 times in the 70's making deep runs in the playoffs finishing 12-1 (3times), 13-1 (once). Then finishing 10-4 (losing in the State Title game against West Potomac 14-17). Too many times to count in the 2000's finishing 9-1 (no playoff births. Finishing, 10-1 (losing to Hermitage 20-21) 11-1 (losing to Bird 23-25 in 2014).... It's been a long time!
Then, 2015 came HS dropped a 20-21 decision to Herm in game 1, then screeched off 14 straight wins to claim our first State title in 54 years!!!! Followed up by another 14-1 campaign winning back to back State titles in 2015. The wait was worth it!!!!!
I'll be back in the stands on August 25th cheering on my Springers against a very touted Hermitage Defense!!! It should be great!! My Springers will be young and very talented. We too will have a fast and aggressive defense along with another dynamic, high octane offense (for several years to follow)
Winning State Titles or not, high school football is a good Friday night activity for late Summer and Fall. I live for it!!!
Go Springers!!
