With Westfield on a bye week I took in the Chantilly - Alexandria City game and it was a fun, entertaining game to watch, including four TDs in the final quarter.

CH received the ball to start the game and after a 36 yard KOR by Andrews were on their own 41 yard line. CH reached the AC 13 yard line where Oh missed a 22 yard FG attempt wide left and AC took over on the 20 yard line. After a few plays AC fumbled and CH's Kessler recovered on the AC 7 yard line. CH's Jackson would then score on a 3 yard run and CH was ahead 7-0 (Oh XP) with 5:18 remaining in the first quarter. AC's next drive ended in a punt and CH took over on their own 23 yard line. CH ran three plays and lined up to punt, but the kick was blocked by AC's Fils-Aime and AC took over on the CH 19 yard line. AC reached the CH 2 yard line where they faced a 4th and goal, but the run lost a yard and CH took over still ahead 7-0. This CH drive would end in a punt, followed by AC also punting and giving the ball to CH on the CH 37 yard line. On this drive CH's Griese fumbled at the AC 34 yard line and AC's Cokley recovered. AC was unable to move the ball after three plays and punted, but CH's Robertson broke through to block Euceda-Merino's punt and CH's Curry recovered the ball and ran it from 13 yards out for a TD. CH was now ahead 13-0 (Oh XP) with 1:45 remaining in the half. AC took the KO and started at their own 26 yard line. On this series AC's Miguel found #17 (no name on the roster) for a 26 yard passing play that ended when he was pushed out at the CH 4 yard line. AC's Miguel then scored on a 4 yard run to draw AC to within 13-6 (Euceda-Merino XP missed) on the final play of the half.

AC received the second half KO and started at their own 20 yard line. Reaching the AC 44 yard line, a shanked punt gave CH good field position at the CH 44 yard line. CH reached the AC 12 yard line where they faced a 4th and one, but gained five yards on a Jackson run followed by a 7 yard TD run by CH's Griese to extend the lead to 20-7 (Oh XP) with 3:47 remaining in the third quarter. AC started the next drive on their 20 yard line but went three and out, again giving CH good field position at the AC 47 yard line. CH's Griese was sacked on a 3rd down play that would have resulted in 4th and about 19, but a facemask penalty on AC instead made it 4th and 2 at the AC 39 yard line. AC stopped the run inches short and took over on their own 37 yard line. AC's Miguel soon found Kyle on a long pass of 47 yards to the CH 11 yard line and AC was threatening to cut into the CH lead. On first down, Miguel rolled to the left sideline and under heavy pressure rifled a pass to the goal line that was intercepted by CH's Queen one yard deep in the end zone. Queen elected to run the ball out, but was stripped at the one yard line by AC's Jackson who recovered the ball for a TD for AC. After Euceda-Merino's XP it was 20-14 in favor of CH with 11:47 remaining in the game. CH then marched 55 yards to the AC 15 yard line before stalling and they elected to attempt a 32 yard FG, but AC jumped off side and CH had a new set of downs. Griese soon scored on a 10 yard run to extend the lead to 27-14 (Oh XP) with 8:21 to play. AC then used less than 90 seconds to go 80 yards and scored when Miguel ran it in from 4 yards out to cut the lead again to single digits, 27-21 (Euceda-Merino XP) with 6:54 to play. CH started their next drive at the CH 22 yard line and reached their own 46 facing 4th and 1, but on the play Griese broke through for a 54 yard TD and CH was back out in front 34-21 (Oh XP) with 3:32 to play. AC's next drive ended when a 4th and 15 pass fell incomplete and CH took over at their own 46 yard line. Jackson ripped off a 55 yard run to the AC one yard line, then scored on the next play to extend the CH lead to 41-21 (Euceda-Merino XP) with 51 seconds remaining. AC was not done yet, returning the KO 99 yards for a TD by Clarke and the score was now 41-27 (Euceda-Merino XP) with 36 seconds remaining. CH was then able to run out the clock and get the win.

Thanks for the write up. I was there, and I guess it depends on perspective, but the word I used was "weird", but I can see one thinking "entertaining" too if they didn't have a dog in the fight ☺️

AC is a scary team. Though they have limitations, they can strike from anywhere. I was impressed with their QB.

Saw Alexandria against Herndon last week, I also thought their QB looked like he is going to be good over the next few years. I believe #1 for Alexandria is Joshua Clarke, he returned a kickoff for a touchdown against Herndon as well. If it was still last year's districts they'd have a chance for 8 or 9 wins but the Patriot District is going to have some tussles. Did we ever figure out why the Patriot is only playing five district games? I guess they figure the playoffs are going to be a district tournament anyway.

New field in Alexandria with the blue turf is pretty nice.

Thanks on naming Clarke; updated my post.
