Chantilly will face Battlefield for the 3rd time this season with a State championship on the line. Chantilly won the previous two meetings by scores of 14-5 and 8-3 with the latter coming in the Region championship game.
The Chargers defeated Cosby 4-1 to earn their 3rd straight VHSL championship game appearance. Chantilly scored all four runs in the 2nd inning and Jared DiCesare did not allow an earned run while completing seven innings.
Garrett Snedeker double in two runs after Brady Ryan singled and Forrest Wagner walked to open the second. Jared Enders and Brett Norwood added RBI singles and the Chargers led 4-0 after two innings.
That was enough for DiCesare who allowed only four hits while facing 24 batters.
Battlefield earned a trip to the title game with a 2-1 win over 6A South Region champion CD Hylton. Jake Agnos improved to 11-0 on the season and finished with 10 strikeouts.
