Congrats to my guy Coach Charles Warren and his Chatham Cavaliers on one of the biggest wins that Chatham has had in a while. I told y'all when he was hired that Coach Warren is a winner. Very very proud of him and his Cavs.

By the way, David Falk starred on that 54-1 MC team and is now an assistant coach at Madison. Glad to see those guys staying associated with HS basketball.

Chatham's basketball team is 5-0. And looking at the paper, Chatham was without 2 starters their leading scorer who is averaging 17 ppg and another player who had been on varsity for two years prior already.

It was a tale of two halves. Dan River led 27-20 at halftime and was 11-of-12 on free throws on the road. 2nd half, the Wildcats were colder than Friday's impending weather as DR only 4 points in the 3rd quarter and 2-of 7 or 8 from free throws. Chatham outscored them 16-4 to take a 5-point lead into the fourth, the same margin that the Wildcats lost by. Congrats to Warren (he also has former Chatham/Tunstall head coach Eddy Lloyd on the sidelines as an assistant coach) on the win - first time that the Cavaliers had defeated Dan River in boys basketball since 2010. The Wildcats only won by five last year at Chatham and the Cavs had several games that they dropped last season by less than 5 points.

I said this on Twitter last night, this year will probably be the more evenly competitive teams you will have in all four Pittsylvania Co. High Schools (Dan River, Chatham, Tunstall, & Gretna). Chatham and Tunstall played a 62-60 game, DR only defeated Tunstall by eight or nine, Tunstall and Gretna went to OT, and now Chatham has beaten the Wildcats.

Thanks for the stats Mascot! As a Tunstall Alum I have to say that Coach Lloyd is a good man. I'm glad he can continue coaching with Coach Warren. He cares about the kids and wants what's best for them. I'll be rooting for both the Wildcats and Cavaliers this year!
